How Pete Buttigieg found God
CNN ^ | 8/17/19 | Daniel Burke

Posted on 08/18/2019 11:53:20 AM PDT by madprof98

"Because my party's been so allergic to religious language, we've forgotten that people need to be made aware of their choice," Buttigieg told CNN.

"I've got to speak up, if only to point out the hypocrisies of those now in power," he added. "Time will tell whether that's smart politically or not."

Thus far, it seems to be working. Progressives, particularly LGBT Christians, have cheerfully circulated his critiques of the religious right and lauded the gay Christian's candidacy as a watershed moment for a community long shunted to the margins of church life.

***

The son of a former Jesuit, he credits Catholicism with awakening his moral conscience, but the baptized Catholic says he did not consider participating in the church as an adult because he is gay. He can be reticent about the details of his faith but has made morality a centerpiece of his campaign for president.

***

The teenager experienced a moral awakening in government class, Buttigieg writes, while watching a film about St. Oscar Romero, an archbishop from El Salvador who was assassinated by right-wing militants while celebrating Mass. The school's monument to aborted fetuses provided another reminder of the intersection of religion and politics, he writes.

Patrick McCurry, who taught Buttigieg in a class on morality, remembers him as a brilliant and grounded young man with a keen interest in philosophy and theology.

***

In June 2018, Buttigieg and his husband Chasten Glezman were married in St. James. The readings included including a passage from the Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage and an excerpt from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.

In the excerpt, Jesus urges his followers not to "hide their lamps beneath a bushel," but to be the salt of the earth and light of the world.

The Jesuit gay-guru James Martin has been pushing this puff-piece from his friends at CNN. No wonder: it's the story of St. Pete, ex-Catholic who finds "God" by looking real hard in the mirror.

Don't think Pete is a serious player? Wrong! Even if he isn't nominated for VP, he will be the voice of "morality" (God loves abortion and gay sex) in the Democratic Party for a long, long time to come.

I don’t consider the Jesuits as Catholics and I’m Catholic.

I nicknamed Butty “the Gay Bishop” some time ago and it is very amusing to see him actually run with it.

We live in a society where
Homosexuals lecture us on morals,
Transsexuals lecture us on human biology,
Baby killers lecture us on human rights,
Satanists lecture us on religion, and
Socialists lecture us on economics

Sung to the tune of “Peter Cottontail”

Here comes Peter Booty-Bug
He’ll give you a fruity hug
Squishity-Splishity Pete’s got lots to say!

He’s a real good booty judge
Likes his hot dogs dipped in fudge
Spankity-Wankity Peter’s really gay.

Just what “god” did he find? Clearly not the God of the Bible.

Jesuits are about as Catholic as Frankie who thinks my car’s air conditioning is a greater affront to the Lord than killing unborn children.

I think Pete has been pushed forward for some interrelated reasons:

1. He’s a homosexual, and in the Democrat/liberal world, it’s cool to be “gay”.

2. He’s a military veteran, which has always been a plus for politicians, both Republican and Democrat.

3. Hand in hand with #2, he’s a personification of why it was considered wise to get rid of “don’t ask/don’t tell”.

4. He does not act like a stereotypical flamboyant homosexual. Which in turn is supposed to make “middle America” more comfortable with homosexuality and homosexual politicians.

5. He is legally married to another man, which is supposed to signify both that homosexual marriage is a good concept, and also that he’s not a stereotypical promiscuous homosexual man.

He may well see his presidential campaign fizzle out, and may not be the VP choice, but he’s going to be a “rising star” in Democrat politics in the future. He’s been groomed for such a role.

He’s NOT brilliant - either in his philosophy or his morality. He’s nothing more than your stereotypical hack who gets his morality from the social messasges on fast food napkins.

He’s an IDIOT and the proof is in his actions - his inability to actually do his job as mayor. His inability to understand relationships (he claims he got a relationship before he joined the military because he wanted to experience love before dying - Really? Any “deep thinker of morality and ethics” would want “real love” and not some john he picked up off the street before setting sail to war.

He’s such a deep thinker and philosopher that he attacks other’s morality and ideologies with hate speech and violent rhetoric rather than rational dialog.

Then, to make himself look better, goes on to race bait, again using the eco-friendly cardboard protector messages on his starbucks cups to show he cares about those poor unfortunate souls.

He’s a hack, a charlatan and a nobody - follow him at your peril.

You can't be a “practicing” homosexual and be a true Christian. All homosexual sex acts are very sinful...ALL such acts.

Why did his “husband”, Chasten, change his name to Buttigig(sp?) Why didn’t Mayor Pete change his name when they got “married”? Are we saying that Mayor Pete is “the man” in the relationship?????

This Butt Pirate has a lot of stones to lecture anyone about God’s morality. The Left is bereft of all morality in their support and promotion of baby killing, homosexuality, drug use, ,etc, etc...................

It seems we could respect Gays who believe a lot more if they could only acknowledge that homosexuality is against Biblical scriptures and not try justify it with unrelated other passages.
