Today's test of idiocy: Anyone who thinks tariffs cause price increases to consumers, and that SS taxes don't is an idiot.

Notice rhar wasn't considered in this article...

Waited all day for one of our good thread-posters to post this.

The point though is that the Dems and RINOs want more taxes.
More taxes! They’ll say its for “whatever”... but it’s “more taxes”.

“The proposal also calls for tax hikes. That includes introducing payroll taxes on wages above $400,000, or the top 0.4% of earners. Currently, payroll taxes are not collected on wages over $132,900. (This is separate from federal income taxes.)”

If they were SERIOUS, they’d simply eliminate the $132,900 cap for EVERYONE making more than that, not just those making over 400k.

So why 400k? Because the dirty little secret is that much of the Democrat base in white America (what’s left of it) is in that 132.9k to 400k income range, particularly on the coasts - and they would SCREAM, since they HATE tax hikes (when it affects them).

Trump’s base of support doesn’t even reach 132.9k (generally), as it is concentrated in lower cost and lower wage areas.

So Trump should demand ALL OR NOTHING and make the Democrat base feel some pain...or just walk away from this.

Here’s an idea you Washington Jack-a**es! How about not giving SS to illegals and immigrants that just come here.

Very interesting!
T wondered how they picked that number.

I’m a low income SSI recipient and am not concerned about a 80% cut (welfare will make it up).
Not do I care if the max is raised to the roof.
It’s welfare now, and we all know it.

Not going to read this drivel. You can save SS by balancing the budget. How? Freeze federal spending, abolish baseline budgeting, reduce every administrative agency by 20% per year until all agencies are down to 10 % of current levels, then abolish all non-essential agencies one by one when you find the world runs fine without them. Abolish all those agencies that were promised, including but not limited to Legal Service corporation, NPR, national endowment for the arts, PBS.....Shall I go on?

At least to me, it is not welfare. If you are low income, then maybe it may be welfare. If you are high income, like my family is, we will be paying more than what we get out of it.

SSI is always running out of money. Welfare, however, keeps ticking right along even though none of them have contributed a dollar to it.

They should have scrapped the max rate years ago. That would have solved it 20 years ago. I always thought it was nuts to cap it.

You gotta read the article then.
Dems and RINOs want to move your share to the ‘poor’.

I agree.
But the max rate is what kept SSI from being called ‘welfare’. Whiach is what it is now.

“It’s welfare now, and we all know it.”

I hate to burst your bubble on that, even though you are clearly right...since there is no Algore Lockbox.

But...when I made the same point (a few years ago) that it is already welfare, and further said that we should first require the CHILDREN of the elderly to pay for their parents (assuming they have the means), before sticking a gun to our neighbors’ heads and demanding their money instead (in other words, reform SS to be just like child support), people here went berserk - claiming that they paid in for decades, so they want their money back. They were clueless and couldn’t understand that what they paid in was GONE, KAPUT, HISTRA, etc - and it was because they (collectively) DEMANDED low taxes, but high levels of government services. And so ended that discussion.

My dentist, has 3 kids, all are dentist and dental surgeons, so probably an income of around $1M per year between for the three kids. He’s planning to retire soon. Is it really moral to demand that STRUGGLING young couples, trying to pay off student loans and start a family, pay for his retirement, rather than his kids (assuming that he even needs any money in retirement)?

Anyway, lost cause. Some people here mad as hell at Trump because of their trillion dollar deficits. The simply want Trump to cut spending on ‘other people’. Well, so do the welfare queens. It’s a standoff, and it’s not Trump’s fault.
