I can just imagine what the Antifa “Mission Statement” looks like.
Just do it, Mr. President, and then start shooting them.
The way Antifa sees it, their most murderous actions are justified if their cause is righteous, which, for it, is the eradication of America as we historically know it.
Maybe it's because Antifa isn't an organization per se, but a collection of violent leftists. If the Feds declare Antifa a TO, well, then what? Who do they arrest? Any loser with a mask on at a protest?
And what happens when Kamala Harris or Spartacus or some loser takes the reigns in 2024...with precedent, will they declare the NRA or Tea Party or RNC (or FR...) a TO? Forget that the organizations I listed aren't bashing people in the heads at rallies and engaging in non-peaceable assemblies...in 2024, we will be in trouble because of Antifa being declared a TO. And yes, I understand "well, they're just gonna do it in 2024 anyway.." but I thought Deplorables were fueled by logic and not 3rd grade schoolyard emotions.
When Trump rattles his saber, it is usually because he wants to see the response OR he has something planned that gets enacted in the dark while the media et al soak up the oxygen yammering on about this or that.
I get the desire to declare Antifa a TO. But a federal declaration is a very dangerous slippery slope. It would be more effective to simply arrest the rioters (notwithstanding the local officials unwillingness to do so) and put them in Greenland.
Leftists see Antifa the same way as normal Americans see the Boy Scouts. If Trump designates Antifa a terror organization, he declares a lot of politician, reporters and professor's children terrorists and the parents become defacto guilty of aiding and abetting.

The will to survive is driven by a desire to win the war. TO designation is a battle-win that loses the war, a fool’s gold, a bag of chips and some jerky when you’re hungry for steak and potatoes.
What is their NOT to consider?

I understand (and join) people here in their impatience with much of what Trump says and then when he does it...often a year or more, if at all. For example, he should have told Congress to SHOVE IT and give him his wall 5 minutes after taking office...instead of waiting 2 years to get serious.
I do think in this case, we’re talking a HUGE STEP, in naming an American Leftist organization a terrorist group, putting them on a par with Al Qaeda, and groups that set off bombs. It’s been nearly 50 years since we took that step and it turned into a huge scandal back then (even though it shouldn’t have), and it is a big step, as it means the Federal Government can do a heck of a lot to them, including infiltrate and spy (you know, like Comey’s FBI), and hit them with FEDERAL CHARGES that are much more severe and much more likely to result in big-time jail sentences.
So Trump wants to minimize the effects of the inevitable whining that’s going to happen once these animals are locked up for 10 to 20 years. Media interviews with moms saying stuff like “My Johnny only joined to fight Fascism and this is how our country treats him!”
So, take the victories that we get - and hopefully the Feds can FINALLY break up this gang, and again make it safe for people to speak in the country, and attend political rallies, even if others claim (without any evidence) that they’re Fascists. And for that matter, even true Fascists should be allowed to speak, and make fools of themselves...after all we’d have to outlaw the Democrat Party if we banned Fascist speech.
