Personnel at the New York City prison where accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide last week have not been initially cooperative with investigators from the Department of Justice, a federal source told Fox News Friday.

Attorney General William Barr sent two senior DOJ officials to personally visit the Metropolitan Correctional Center and speak with staff from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) in order to gather information on Epstein’s death after Barr said officials uncovered “serious irregularities” at the jail, a senior DOJ official told Fox News. The officials have been on site since Thursday and the FBI and the Justice Department’s inspector general are investigating conditions at the MCC.

BOP officials from various regional offices have also been sent to the Manhattan facility to lend their expertise and insight. In addition, a separate BOP “After Action Team” went to MCC earlier this week in an effort to examine what happened the night Epstein died. The use of the “After Action Team” is part of BOP protocol whenever a “significant event takes place at a prison. […]

Fox News has also learned that 20 of 21 prison staff posts were filled between the hours of 4 p.m. and 12 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, the day before Epstein was found. Of those prison workers, six of them were working voluntary overtime. Between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 18 of 19 staff posts were filled. Of those 18 staffers, 10 were working overtime and all but one of those were doing so voluntarily. …

The guilty usually don’t cooperate with the cops.

Guess they got the warning from the Clintons to shut their yaps if they want to see next week

If they cooperate, family members ‘suicide,’ suddenly.

I was dumbfounded to learn that the body was released to an ‘associate’. It probably wasn’t even swabbed for DNA before it was released. Whatever physical evidence that could have been obtained is gone.

I'd recruit Barton Keyes to get to the bottom of this.

More like Rakugo, and just as funny.

it starts with false statement on logs that they were checking on prisoners and not sleeping so they could clock more overtime, and the corruption goes from there...

So many lies, so little time.

“Chain of evidence” is a concept created by dead white male slaveholders.

We don’t stuff like that anymore! :-(

And why not. It's n to like the jailers who were sleeping on the job will be fired.

Government, at all levels, is nothing but a jobs program for the serially incompetent and lazy. Sure, there are some good people who work hard, but most are like these MCC folks, including the now-sidelined warden, that Skipper lady (who sued Eric Holder for racism and was given the MCC job as compensation).

So let’s see: Skipper ran the three-ring circus known as the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

At least some of her guards weren’t even qualified correctional officers, yet were given responsibility for keeping the one guy currently in custody in the federal correctional system alive until he could be tried in a court of law.

It looks like some of her guards were sleeping on the job, not making their rounds or circuits or patrols or whatever they call checking up on the prisoners, and then were “radioing in” (i.e. falsifying) their logbooks, saying that they had, in fact, done those checks.

Add it all up and it’s yet another example of how our government maybe shouldn’t even be trusted to tell us if it’s sunny or raining on any particular day.

Not only did the DOJ fail big time - and MCC specifically for letting epstein get murdered/suicided, but they continue to do so, with the failure to secure the island evidence, and letting the body go - and so the failure is directly on Barr now.

I believe she has "racial immunity": that is, you can't even suggest even the beginnings of the merest *hint* of incompetence, laziness, or dishonest, let alone more than the merest hint, because "ray-ciss."

And you can't fire them because "White Man Bad." And "ray-ciss."

So you have to shrug your shoulders and vaguely intone "Mistakes were made."

And thus the United States turns into a corrupt hellhole, because some people are below the law.

And it turns into a banana republic, at the same time, because other people are above the law.

And the law, frustrated from above and below, seeks to "prove" its good faith by being weaponized against the Middle Class. And making up for its frustrations by over-zealousness against the one group of people who don't deserve it, the Middle Class: the existence, trust, and functioning of which, is what differentiates successful nations from failed states.

Sounds like the Union pension move.

Employees close to retirement take all the overtime to goose their annual earnings, which is used to calculate their pension gross earnings.

They use the OT to inflate their pension income
