What is truly interesting is when you explain the cost, (in the states), of housing, food, utilities, transportation, (along with a tutorial on mortgages), and explain that the wages they hear about are not beginner wages but take years in the job market before you can attain that level, then their eyes open.
They see a wage of $2,000 a month as rich because they are used to getting paid $5-10 a day and the cost of food here is low when you eat fish, rice and vegetables mostly.
