Sounds typical. Most times, cops can’t be bothered nor will they do anything until after something bad happens.

They won’t even take the name of the person really?

>> cops can’t be bothered

And instead of improving performance, the 2nd Amendment gets trampled on.

Read more carefully.

The mom did not even say her own name or her son’s name.

So you’re okay with the police bypassing & trampling constitutional rights based on “my son bought a gun I’m scared of”. Then you’re also a supporter of the Red Flag legislation being proposed.
Hindsight is 20/20. You can’t retroactively blame the police if the mother gave no personal information nor the kid had been in criminal trouble e Er before. Most police agencies don’t have the manpower or psychic mutants to have PreCrime Divisions. Otherwise, you’re hypocritical saying that it’s okay to suspend constitutional rights based on spurious information.

Across the street from us lives a Somali refugee mother and two adult sons. We live in a very nice neighborhood, I don’t know how they pay their bills since none of them work. One son is scary, obviously mentally ill, probably schizophrenic. The police are called out via 911 to this home at least once a month, it’s always problems with the mentally ill son.

I have expressed my concerns about the situation to the police responding to the frequent 911 calls. The police tell me there is nothing they can do, the mother won’t press charges against her son. Until the mentally ill son commits a violent crime there is nothing the police can do.

Just peachy.......

If the mom didn’t mention “mentally ill”, of course the police didn’t do anything.

When people call in, they have to provide “a reason” why his owning the gun is a problem.

People could call in on any of us for owning a big old nasty weapon. Would we want the police knocking on our doors demanding to see our weapons?

Ah no...
