All John Bolton’s Wars
WSJ ^ | aug.5, 2019 | Bill McGurn

What do the Iranian regime, the New York Times and Sen. Rand Paul have in common?

“I believe Mr. Trump does not seek war. But Mr. Bolton and Netanyahu have always sought war.” Thus spoke Iran’s foreign minister, Javad Zarif, at a Monday press conference in Tehran. It’s not the first time Mr. Zarif has tried to drive a wedge between President Trump and his national security adviser, John Bolton—or between the president and his most steadfast international ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. But for Mr. Bolton, Mr. Zarif implies, we could have peace in the Middle East tomorrow.

Iran’s foreign minister has plenty of support for his argument. Scarcely a week goes by without some article warning the president that Mr. Bolton is leading him to war. The same folks who pound the president for being soft on the world’s worst thugs then oddly side with the thugs against the White House official who takes them on.

There can be no doubting Mr. Bolton’s unpopularity in Dictatorsville. (Excerpt)

“But if war isn’t what’s guiding Mr. Bolton, what is? At bottom it’s the conviction that diplomacy and multilateral organizations are fine—as long as they serve American interests. In the Bolton version, America First means the U.S. Constitution takes precedence over the U.N. Charter.”

Some have to have an enemy to prosecute for the past’s lost wars and Trump’s “bad cop” fits the bill. Without a bad cop in your arsenal, you’re Obama.

What a concept, huh? Reminds me of the George Schulz anecdote:

https://adst.org/oral-history/fascinating-figures/george-shultz-country-united-states/
[MILLER: George Shultz, for many of us, was like God. He was a really good guy… He’d have all new ambassadors in to his office, one at a time, as they went out for a five, maybe 10 minute chat.

And he’d say, “OK, Mr. Ambassador or Madame Ambassador, you’ve passed all the tests. You’ve been confirmed by the Senate and you’ve passed your security investigation. You’ve done all the things to get the position of ambassador, but you have to pass my test. I have one more for you.” And he’d take them over in the Secretary’s office to where there was this massive globe, and he’d say, “I’m going to spin the globe and I want you to put your hand on your country.”

Shultz would tell this story, and he said, “Every single one of them failed. But I let them go anyway.” Because whenever he spun the globe and he’d say, “I want you to put your hand on your country,” they’d always put their hand on the country that they were going out to. His point was your country is the United States.]

“Could it be the president appreciates having around him a national security adviser who puts the fear of God into America’s enemies? “

Now that we have been liberated to produce our own energy, Bolton, and thus Trump have a much stronger hand and more tools before having to resort to warfare, no matter how limited to maintain credibility.

Bolton would have far more credibility if he hadn't been running around in the 1990s calling for U.S. military action against the Serbs in Kosovo.

There wasn't a single compelling national interest at stake there, and his globalist warmongering always seems to suspiciously benefit radical Sunni Islamic elements.

They are trying to blame Bolton, instead of the, real enemy: Iran.

I love that story. Love John Bolton, but he is a quarrelsome little bugger.

“...America First means the U.S. Constitution takes precedence over the U.N. Charter....”

Can you imagine what our country would look like if it was run by the U.N. Charter??? God forbid.

"Can you imagine what our country would look like if it was run by the U.N. Charter???"

Well lets see, White folks would constantly be blamed for all the faults of society and called intrinsically evil, families would be broken down with a constant media barrage mocking normal families, Christianity would be fading fast, there would be homeless people in the streets of major cities, streets in those same cities would be covered in drug needles and human feces, the middle class would be nearly destroyed and wealth would be concentrated in the top few percent of society who also ran the country from behind the scenes through corruption and violence.

Sort of like that is my bet.

Bolton may have been “running around” in the 90s but I don’t remember him being part of the Clinton administration who was responsible for foreign policy at that time. I seriously doubt the Clintonistas listened much to Bolton.

The guy was signing open letters to the Clinton Administration that were published in major newspapers like the New York Times.

I don't give a sh!t if he was in a position of power back then. He exposed himself as a globalist/Islamist fraud, in my humble opinion.

I support military action now against Iran the number one country which supports terrorism.

For their recent attacks, i would destroy their navy this week.

In order to prevent them from building a nuclear arsenal, I would develop a plan with the saudis, Israel and us and Britain and France to destroy their nuclear capability and ICBM program, even if it includes military action.

I would increase funding for non-theocratic groups inside Iran to sabotage the mullahs.

I don’t give a hoot if I agree with Bolton or not. I am capable of doing my own thinking.

John Bolton is the third rail that ends the Trump presidency if he gets any new wars which he is constantly pushing for.
