If only a few can be convinced to vote Trump in 2020 it will be devastating to the other party...

I don’t know what that has to do with what I posted. I was talking about people who have been legally adjudicated mentally deficient in a court of law. They have no choice about having their names entered into the NICS database. The court does it. LEOs will be sent to their homes (if they’re not institutionalized which is what “committed” usually means) to remove their firearms.

Sounds like a plan to me.

A terrible plan. Red Flag laws are just administrative confiscation. What he's proposing is deeply unconstitutional.

Republicans and Democrats to work together

Careful. For most of my lifetime (69) that meant Republicans cave to whatever Democrats want and get nothing, or virtually nothing in return.

It’s a widely covered topic on alternative media but you won’t hear nothing about it from fake news...

In the book and movie To Kill A Mockingbird, the very anti-bigoted hero Atticus Finch shoots a mad dog.

Why would author Harper Lee put that episode in her book?

She wanted to show that people can be for justice while also being protective of their children.

The mad dog was advancing on Atticus’ daughter, Scout.

Atticus shoots the dog.

We don’t have to put up with mad dogs walking around with our children.

One problem with trying to disarm mentally dangerous young men is that their mothers (some of them) will do their best to hide the problem. Some of them will even buy weapons for their sons, as we’ve seen. So such men have no records before committing mass murders. The problem has more to do with morality, drugs, promiscuity, poor choices in relations between the sexes, etc.

Red Flag = bad IMHO.

Heard a well written monologue by regional right wing talk radio guy Steve Gruber.

Said what if hateful rejected ex says she fears this guy is a violent nutjob. He’s innocent. At 3 am the SWAT team breaks in to confiscate his gun. He suddenly wakes up in the dark and shoots toward them. Then struggles with them and is handcuffed. Now he’s guilty of something anyway and she can laugh over his pain.

Or high school or college students or suspicious neighbors want to make a call to turn a nerdy guy in as a mentally ill would-be school shooter? “We have to take these seriously in this violent climate today.”

An individual I'm aware of who was committed due to mental health issues was able to obtain a firearm post committment. And I know he is an habitual weed smoker. Legal in our state but still would be a denial based on Fed law when filling out a 4473 at the dealer. But anyway.😁

You need look no farther than California for proof. We have laws restricting the possession of firearms for a domestic violence conviction. Democrats had a bill that would have extended that restriction to people convicted of DUI. It failed. This time.

As we learned in the Texas church shooting not everyone who is supposed to be placed in the NICS database is but it is the law. If you're in that database it doesn't matter what you write on the 4473 you will fail the check. It isn't news that submitting records to NICS was haphazard in the past.
