US preparing to withdraw thousands of troops from Afghanistan as part of proposed Taliban deal

The Pentagon is preparing to withdraw thousands of troops from Afghanistan as part of a proposed peace deal with the Taliban, U.S. officials told Fox News Thursday.

One official warned the withdrawal would be subject to the completion of any agreement. So far, no such deal has been finalized.

“While RS [Resolute Support] or DOD [The Department of Defense] can speak with more authority on this issue, we have not adjusted our troop levels in Afghanistan to reflect our discussions with either the Afghan government or the Taliban," a State Department official told Fox News. "The presence of U.S. forces has long been conditions-based. Adjustments over the years have been conditions-based. And any future reductions or withdrawal of forces will also be conditions-based.”

I question the sanity of our "negotiators"? Who in their right mind would make any deal with the Taliban? No matter what is said or promised, ten minutes after the last American is gone, the Taliban will resume business as usual.

You can never make a deal with muslims, ever. You think they are playing according to Hoyle, but they know they are playing according Taqiyya.

Deal or no deal, get us out of there Mr. President!

A week before we leave we ought to pound the piss out of them with B52 strikes for a solid week.

Which is what war is all about. I don’t care what you think about this war, but if you’re going to fight a war, fight it to win and do it quickly.

This deal will last until the last US soldier flies across the border.

We should have done this on Sept. 12 and nothing more.

There is an exception to war that Mad Moe made. If the enemy has overwhelming force you can have a temporary truce while you rebuild your forces. So smash them hard then walk away after you let them know if America has to come back it is going to be worse.

Afghanistan is mirroring what happened in Vietnam. Eventually we will see helicopters take off from the roof of the US embassy in Kabul, just like we saw in Saigon back in 1975.

What makes this particularly disgusting as that George W. Bush had the Vietnam example to learn from. But Bush repeated many of LBJ’s foolish mistakes. Hearts and minds, nation-building nonsense.

I don’t care if Bush is a nice guy. He did this country great and lasting damage. In some ways he was worse than LBJ.

I saw this coming from Day 1 of our involvement in Afghanistan. The Taliban is willing to fight for generations. We are not. In the end the Taliban will control Afghanistan, and we will end up with refugees. Reminds me of Viet Nam. In the end we got nothing but refugees for all our effort.

I was not aware the Taliban had ceased “business as usual”. They control about 70% of the Districts in Afghanistan.

But it’s not just the Taliban. The government we set up persecutes Christians. And soldiers from the Afghan army we set up routinely shoot our soldiers.

We need to blow something up, declare victory and get out.

The source of the Taliban is to be found in Pakistan’s madrassas. Until you fix the problem in Pakistan, you’re only dealing superficially with the issue. (And, that mean’s you’ll never win by just reacting to enemy actions in Afghanistan itself).

The only way we would have prevailed in this multi-decade mad muzzie fiasco we’ve squandered trillions of dollars in and lost far too many heroes lives over was to never get involved with mad muzzies in the first place. By that, I mean, we never should have allowed the mad muzzies that perpetrated 911 into this country from the very beginning. Mad muzzies have no place in this country and should all be sent packing, just like the other south American aliens that have destroyed this benighted land by their ongoing invasion. This is called situational awareness, such that, someone who has a CCW knows that the moment he finds himself in a situation where he has to pull his firearm he has already lost, even if he shoots the bastid who attacks him. Situational awareness occurs when you know what to do to avoid putting yourself in the bad place from the start and you do it, like avoiding the ghettos altogether. Then you don’t have a need to draw you firearm at all. That’s how you win. And we never will win because we won’t do the things that will make us win.
