Trump has not built a single mile of new border fence after 30 months in office
Washington Examiner ^ | July 20, 2019 | Anna Giaritelli

Posted on 07/21/2019 6:08:29 AM PDT by george76

The Trump administration has not installed a single mile of new wall in a previously fenceless part of the U.S.-Mexico border in the 30 months since President Trump assumed office, despite his campaign promise to construct a “big beautiful wall.”

...

all the fencing completed since Trump took office is "in place of dilapidated designs" because the existing fence was in need of replacement.

The agency said that it had built 51 miles of steel bollard fence with funding that was set aside during fiscal 2017 and 2018. But while the funding was meant both to replace outdated walls and to place barriers where there previously had been none, the government has only completed the replacement projects. The projects to secure areas with no fence are still in the works.

The 50 miles of completed replacement barrier is a 10-mile gain since early April. In Trump’s two and a half years in office, his administration has installed an average 1.7 miles of barrier per month, and none of it in areas that did not previously have some sort of barrier. A total 205 miles of new and replacement barrier has been funded in the two and a half years since Trump took office.

...

Army Corps of Engineers moved faster on replacement projects than the new ones because the approval process for environmental and zoning permits was far less extensive than areas of the border with no barrier.

...

Roughly 700 miles of the 2,000-mile border has some sort of barrier as a result of the Secure Fence Act

....

300 miles of barrier is Normandy style, or a handful of steel beams fastened together to prevent vehicular traffic from getting by. However, the four-foot-tall fence does not prevent people from crossing.

Disallow any funding, then blame the President. Typical leftist garbage.

Lovely straw man the author has constructed. Yet another sad angle by the MSM to chip away at or attempt to destroy Trump by any means possible.

Does she expect that Trump can just build billions of dollars of walls/fencing without funding or some of congressional authorization or support from the courts?

It is obvious to anyone with functioning eyes that President Trump would have built all of the wall by now if the various seditious losers in congress (DIM/LIBs/NeverTrumpers) weren’t such open-border/no-border, America-hating degenerates and criminals. These people are despicable traitors who resist him every possibly way. May they all rot.

Yes, they don’t give him money or they stop him in courts - and it’s his fault. Beside other conservative complainers, Breitbart’s morning radio host Alex does a monologue just about daily, griping that President Trump hasn’t built the wall yet. It’s infuriating.

No, she probably isn’t that stupid. However, she thinks other people are stupid and will believe her lies.

I think I saw this person for the first time this past week.

She is unsightly and mean as anything looking.

Hope she is mentioned by President Trump for the lies.

“...in a previously fenceless part.”

There is the qualifier missing from the title that is necessary for the title not to be an utter and complete lie.

The fence has been as nothing as a mere strand of barbed wire lying on the ground between distance fence posts. Why would he focus first on parts where there had been not even such a demarcation?

Correct. Replacing ineffective fencing with effective fencing counts for erecting new miles

This a prime reason we need to replace ‘never-Trump’ RINO’S in the Congress in 2020.

The ‘open-borders’ crowd is very, very powerful and they have no intentions of going down without a fight.

Getting rid of Democrat and ‘never-Trump RINO’ politicians at all levels of government has to be a major priority in 2020.

Just electing Trump in 2020 is not enough.

He has replaced a lot of the ineffectual “wall” in high-traffic areas. Exactly the way it should be done before new wall construction.

Julius Caesar and his engineers came up with an ingenious series of defenses during his siege of the city of Alesia. They built palisades, towers, ditches, moats, trenches filled with caltrops and barbs, and berms embedded with the sharpened boughs of felled trees facing out.

If we get a wall, we get a wall. But I think things like Caesar’s works placed strategically along the border would be as effective. The British built a natural “hedge line” across India in the 1800’s that turned out to be an effective barrier. Something of the sort could also be employed.

The first two years Trump was President the Republicans controlled the House and Senate. Dems can’t filibuster appropriations. How is this anything other than the fault of the GOPe?
