WASHINGTON (AP) — With Iranian military threats in mind, the United States is sending American forces, including fighter aircraft, air defense missiles and likely more than 500 troops, to a Saudi air base that became a hub of American air power in the Middle East in the 1990s but was abandoned by Washington after it toppled Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein in 2003.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry announced the basing agreement Friday without mentioning details.

I’d be more concerned about a couple of thousand small drones carrying grenades hitting the petroleum infrastructure myself. Or the water facilities, or electrical grid, or the sewer plants, or...No way you could knock all of them down.

I am firmly against war with Iran. Our military has been fighting in the Middle East for almost twenty years now. Enough. If the Iranians want to seize Norwegian or British oil tankers then let the Norwegians and the Brits worry about it. Bunch of America hating Euroweenies anyway.

4 years from now, at least as things are going, we won’t even need to import oil. At that point it would be fun to leave the Gulf and tell the stupid-ass Europeans that they can go fight the Iranians if they don’t want to freeze their nuts off in the winter.
Maybe. There is a limit to how many drones you can operate in a given area simultaneously. There are only so many distinct radio frequencies that commercial drones and controllers use. At some point they will start interfering with each other. So if you have enough air defense for the big ones, and enough guys with machine guns for massed fire on the small ones...
Yep. Sick of standing up for other countries. Let them take a large part of their budgets and form/increase their own armies for defense.
I would agree with EXCEPT that the actions against British ships are a reaction to sanctions that are most strongly suggested and supported by the USA. If we are going to provoke the Iranians we are responsible to address their reactions. Larger issues are at stake here, namely denuclearization, by force if necessary and regime change if at all possible

Some are GPS guided. Set the coordinates, launch, forget. Prepare the 2nd or 3rd wave. Load them with a couple of pounds of thermite, drop them on a few pipes at any of the before mentioned targets and watch the hilarity ensue.
The Russians took out a few million dollars worth of ordnance and ammunition in Ukraine this way a while back.
