There exists in this country a cultivated mindset that conservatives are all things evil. We have gradually devolved into fictional characters, invented by the left, and animated by whatever awful thoughts, beliefs, and imaginary actions the anti-American hate cult can conjure up, mostly on the basis that we still have faith, or love our country, or believe in true justice rather than socialist justice.
It’s been going on for a long time. I was a Reagan supporter as a teenager and college student, so I’ve been hearing for almost my entire life what a rotten person I obviously am. Of course, I am none of the things that are pinned on me, but it doesn’t matter. I am who they say I am, and they believe it to their cores.

Yep, this is where we are at. We are all deplorable. We are in that basket of deplorables. Racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. That’s what these “enlightened” and “sophisticated” liberals and media members think.
The media, who rarely venture outside the New York/Washington axis, are stunned to learn that their views are not shared by “middle America”.
I heard some guy on MSNBC recently, who said, that YOU, meaning supporters of Trump and/or conservatives in general, that YOU are the racist, YOU are the bigot, because of support for this awful president.

I like to take a “DUmpster dive” at least once a day, to see what they are talking about. They are now completely irrational. The blind hatred, the humorlessness, the talk of violence. They have come to believe their own propaganda.

To continually say one thing about a group of people and to actually believe/know something totally different creates a condition called "cognitive dissonance". There is something about the human brain that prevents a situation like that from existing very long. We are not always rational, but humans rationalize all the time. In a case like this, the rationalization is "I say it all the time. I hear it from people I like and respect all the time. Therefore, this horrible statement about people I disagree with must be true.
I've gotten to the state where it really doesn't matter what people say about me because I know who I am. When I hear hateful language, it's primary effect on me is to identify the people I need to protect my family from - whatever form that requires.
Takes a lot of courage to be a Republican when you realize the lefties have control of the press and the culture... and that they’re evil.
