María Consuelo Loera Pérez, his mother, was denied a humanitarian visa by the US government so could not attend the hearing. Guzman will now be sent to a supermax prison to live out his days.

Now that El Chapo has been defeated, is the war on drugs over. Of course not. Someone “better” will take his place.

Just like the war on poverty, and the war on terrorism, the war on drugs was designed never to end. Politicians, police state agencies, prison systems and money laundering backs are absolutely dependent on the drug trade.

I laugh every time the fascists at the police state agencies announce another big bust. All that means is the drug trade is larger than ever and business is better for everyone involved.

The money laundering backs are very dependent on the drug trade. If the drug trade was substantially reduced, we would have bank failures which could lead to a systemic collapse.

I just wish that people would wake up on this issue instead of falling for the government propaganda over and over again.

From what I’ve read, the breakup of the cartels has resulted much worse and more violent characters taking over. The old cartels focused on making lots of money, killing, of course, anyone who got in their way. But, for example, they kept hands-off in the major tourist areas, know that they could make money there themselves. Now, all bets are off. Younger, and much smaller mobs fight bloody turf wars where just about anyone is fair game. They have no respect for the ‘old ways of doing things.’
