White House officials announced a draft immigration reform plan which could become the centerpiece of a post-election 2021 push in Congress.
President Donald Trump publicly endorsed the plan during a cabinet meeting attended by reporters. The plan is “compassionate [and] … the best of everything,” Trump said. “Our country really has a tremendous immigration gap.”
NPR reported:
“While this plan doesn’t make every needed change or fulfill every campaign promise, it offers the country a viable path forward in the face of Democrat immigration extremism,” said RJ Hauman, the government relations director at FAIR, which advocates for stronger immigration enforcement.
The plan includes an updated legal immigration system that replaces allowing entry to low-skilled workers with a merit-based system that prioritizes immigrants with special skills. It would also strengthen border security, increase interior enforcement and tighten asylum procedures.
The proposal would also include installing a nationwide federal employment verification program, known as E-Verify, federal program to check whether new employees were legally allowed to work. Conservative groups have long pushed for the program, but big business has lobbied against it. But that may be changing.
The proposed plan would fully fund the border wall — but it would also allow legal migrants to fill jobs.
Overall, the plan is designed to help GOP candidates synchronize their 2020 campaign policies on immigraiton, and also highlight areas where Democrats promote unpopular migration policies, such as open borders and taxpayer aid for illegals.

I don’t trust him for a second. What else is in this? AMNESTY? And somewhat tied to this, where is he on the disastrous H1B legislation being snuck through congress? It is amnesty and cheap labor giveaway. Jared and Ivanka need to get out of the way as all they will bring in the end is amnesty to the 30-60 million illegals already here.
The Rats will not sign anything that might save the country. The want it destroyed.

Guys...Seriously start making it a habit to push for RETROACTIVE REVOCATION of birthright citizenship dating back at least 10 years, (20, preferably) and the repeal of the Immigration act of 1965. It will be the only way to save the country.

The government also prints out more than one million work permits for foreigners, tolerates about eight million illegal workers, and does not punish companies for employing the hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants who sneak across the border or overstay their legal visas each year.
This policy of inflating the labor supply boosts economic growth for investors because it ensures that employers do not have to compete for American workers by offering higher wages and better working conditions.

What’s positive about a 600 page corporate giveaway? Jared Kushner will be the downfall of Trump.
What is positive about a plan that will go nowhere? Middle-East Peace Plan, Immigration Plan, Kushner seems to excel at wasting time on schemes that are dead on arrival. What does he think he's accomplishing?
Kushner makes me want to puke.
Our economy is growing so fast we need more immigrants to work in specific sectors?
No. We need to get the 40 million illegals here currently out.
We need such industries to improve the appeal of their jobs to Americans and also to invest more capital to make up for the stagnant and poor working conditions that decades of low-cost illegals have created.
So we have Jared working overtime to increase the spigot of immigrant labor, while Ivanka on the other end is ever fretting about our workforce lacking skill.
How about we let our lower-skilled workers fill the openings for lower-skilled workers—and the free market within our country resolve issues of training?
Bringing in more immigrant workers and keeping all the illegal workers we have here (which the Trump admin has effectively done) may give them some sort of bragging rights about “economic growth”, but it is fueling the end of our national culture and sucking in ever-more “progressive” voters to continue our ruination.
I’m sure Jared has put amnesty (by another name) in there.
Wait, all the nay sayers were telling me e-verify would not be in Jared’s plan.
How well does he do against The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement?
The list goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund.
Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport.
Also consider reciprocation of the laws of the countries of origin of the illegal aliens. For example, Mexico doesn’t allow land ownership or voting to immigrants, and doesn’t honor birthright citizenship like its citizens expect from the U.S. We should offer the same deal to them.
Nothing, especially border/immigration related, is going to get done until both houses and the presidency are under one party again. Hopefully that will never be the socialist party formerly known as the democrat party. If republican, then the majority will have to be enough to offset the RINOS and socialist plants.

I thought E-Verify was already in place-—in the 90’s.

E-Verify is in place. It is not mandatory except in certain states that have made it mandatory.
