Jeffrey Epstein had fake passport, piles of cash and diamonds in home: prosecutors

NEW YORK — Accused pedophile Jeffrey Epstein kept a fake passport issued by a foreign country in the name of another person in a safe, along with piles of cash and dozens of diamonds, a prosecutor revealed Monday during a hearing on whether the sex offender should be granted bail.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex Rossmiller said the feds had learned of the contents of the safe hours before the hearing in Manhattan Federal Court. He cited the passport issued in the 1980s, which listed a residence in Saudi Arabia, as another example of why Epstein should remain locked up while awaiting trial for sex trafficking of underage girls.

Come on, a Saudi passport "issued in the 1980s" as a basis for denying bail??? US passports expire every 10 years. If issued in 1989 that museum piece would be 30 years old. Looks like the U.S. Attorney is grasping at straws to deny Epstein bail.

Ahem. Like there is no other reason to deny bail? Havana

Saudi Arabia has no minimum age of consent. At all.

But they do have a potential death penalty for sex outside of marriage.

Having a fake passport even if expired is a reason to deny bail given the circumstances.

Former US Attorney Andy McCarthy was on Rush today, and made the argument that Epstein likely might get bail, if he has a reasonable claim of double jeopardy - which could go all the way to the Supreme Court, before any prosecution could even begin.

If there are substantially new and different crimes to prosecute him for though, that would be a different story. The fact that the Public Corruption Unit of the SDNY is handling the case, might indicate something different.

Having a fake passport even if expired is a reason to deny bail given the circumstances.

It's also a Federal offense.

I say give him bail and make his house like a prison. Best chance to keep him alive.

will be interesting to see if that was part of his intelligence work.

spies use fake passports.

Was the passport real with a fake name or just a complete fake passport.

The charges against Epstein are potentially much broader than what he was charged with back in 2005 . Furthermore, he continued his pattern of illegal behavior up until just before he was arrested the second time.

Double jeopardy means you can’t be tried for the same bank robbery twice.

It does not mean that you can rob a bank and get caught and convicted then go rob another bank when you get out of jail and cry double jeopardy

Epstein is going to disappear if he gets bail. His exit strategy is almost certainly pre planned and well rehearsed.

I, too, heard Andy on Rush today.....and I was APPALLED!!! Both of them said he would get bail because of Double Jeopardy!!

Isn't there a LOT MORE GIRLS COMING FORWARD??? How in HELL could that be DOUBLE JEOPARDY?? What am I missing?

There is something so DEEP and DISTURBING about Epstein and the Elites......

It’s not a federal offense when the 3 letter agencies are the ones that provided him with the fake duplicate passports under different identity’s.

He’s very clearly a spy.

Yeah, sure, 30 years old and probably forgotten about. If it were current, I’d buy the idea.

Doesn’t matter. Shows propensity. Flight risk. And if he has one, it is likely he has more....especially given the claim he worked with intelligence.

And that he has the connections to get another one.

OK, aside from the kiddie porn discovered pursuant to a search warrant issued because of charges that might be barred by the NPA and, thus, might be invalid, what currently valid charges are there that might not be barred either by the pre-2006 statute of limitations or the NPA? Looks like the U.S. Attorney is scratching really hard to find some and may not have come up with any yet.

Someone pointed out that the wording “foreign passport” sounded like a British overseas citizen passport. Brennan was in charge at the time of the SA Embassy.

Grasping at straws just bringing the charges. Where is the evidence that is new since he was last given a free ride?

I’d much rather see evidence involving the clan members riding the moral express to the island hideaway. Double jeopardy for Jeffrey could be an issue, much less false arrest etc etc. I’m not defending any wrongdoing, but innocent until proven guilty is still our legal system. Anyone seeing new women claiming they were “kidnapped”?
