President Donald Trump retreated from his quest to add a question about US citizenship to the 2020 census on Thursday, instead asking government agencies to provide records that could determine a head-count of citizens without polling census-takers directly.
The turnaround comes after Trump repeatedly said he would continue fighting to insert the question despite a Supreme Court ruling that dealt a blow to the effort last month. It reflects legal reality intersecting with Trump's desire to bolster his image as an immigration hard-liner as he moves ahead with his 2020 reelection bid.
Instead of attempting to put the question on census forms, or adding it separately, Trump issued an executive order directing the Commerce Department to obtain citizenship data through means other than the census. That includes documents from the Department of Homeland Security, which houses citizenship and asylum services, and the Social Security Administration.
The order was signed and released to reporters late Thursday night.

Anyone can write anything on census piece of paper. Fraud reigns supreme. As opposed to the hard data which can be used to support all types of actions. In addition, the data could be a real eyeopener for those who still cling to the BS 12 million cockn’bull number they’ve been using for decades.
The IRS can now provide its information on all the illegals getting “refundable” tax credits (AKA free money). Do other federal agencies have information on illegals being provided Medicaid/Medical?

IRS has over a Trillion dollars in escrow and know who has submitted returns using a stolen SSN and is not trying to claim it or is leaving it there
It is a Federal law for the States to insure the validity of their results and prevent illegals from voting, and that is why they came up with Motor Voter laws with instant registration in the Voting pool even though they are not eligible to vote
If you listen to only the MSM this all has probably eluded you but believe me the information is all out there if you know where to look

In order to correct for non-citizens being counted, patriotic California residents could choose to under-report their household head count on their census form. It would be great to see California and New York actually lose congressional seats after the 2020 census.
Consider it to be the census equivalent of jury nullification.

A country under siege from a former president and Co who want power and have, and utilize, means of controlling the lawmakers, law enforcement and the press by nefarious methods and want an invasion, would abolish the census just as readily as the do elections

I'm more interested in the IRS being required to inform every taxpayer if their SSN has been used fraudulently by an illegal. Last I heard, the IRS refused to do this for "privacy reasons," although it causes great problems for those who retire and their SS numbers don't add up.
Faced with unprecedented obstruction and judicial sabotage, President Trump, probably under the advice of Atty General Barr, took a different tack.
The move is pure genius and political jujitsu. Roberts and the rest of the open borders monkey wrenchers are going to regret the day they decided to play census games to hide the number of illegals in the country
The fallout from this decision is going to dominate the 2020 election and dominate President Trumps second term or haunt the first term which ever Democrat wins in 2020
President Trump has just forced the issue on exposing the destructive effects of the rampant and unlawful abuses of the system by illegal aliens living in the shadow economy and true costs of the grey area shadow economy
This is heading for showdown on the legal status of illegal aliens that will be decided by the Supreme Court
i am not sure that the various fed agencies have that info
so my first thought was that this was a poor substitute for putting the damned question on the damned census form where it belongs
but so many people lie or just ignore doing the census forms anyway
this approach may be at least as good as the other
the irs probably has most of the info about people getting those payments
but does irs have info which people are aliens ?

President Trump and Attorney General Barr made the right decision.
