I was disappointed that they won - the first time I’d ever rooted for an American team to lose.

But, the American media are already deeming them heroes - for standing up for Trump, bravely kneeling when the National Anthem is being played, refusing to go to the White House.

Just saw a “bikini spread” that is or will be featured in Sports Illustrated (thought they were out of business?). You’d think they’d look at that as anti-feminist and exploitation of women, but no.

Bunch of losers and ingrates, AFAIC.

The men’s tournament brought in over $6 billion in revenue in 2018, while the women’s tournament is estimated to only have brought in $131 million in 2019

I would love to see a breakdown by country, if available. I suspect women got their biggest % of revenue in countries like the USA, Canada. who ironically are the only ones who give voice to their claims of bias. Countries like Thailand, Camaroon or Russia - probably had almost zero viewers for women's soccer.

Actually the boys team was classified as “under 15”

The reason they won is because men are simply better athletes than are women.

Men are stronger, faster, have better endurance. Are there ever exceptions? Sure and there always will be but it changes nothing

Why do you think there are no female ML Baseball players, or NFL PLAYERS?

Since woeman’s soccer is not men, there is no need for equal pay.

Dykes are really not men

They should practice what they preach by doing away with ALL separate gender sports.

Make them play and compete in all the same teams, sharing showers, lockers, bathrooms, rules, etc. NO QUOTAS either. Really compete. See how long that lasts.

The revenue generation is the main basis for high salaries for sports figures. Hopefully, whats-her-face shuts her pie-hole and the team embraces being a rallying point for all Americans, which will drive up their revenues. You can either be divisive or you can be a unifier.

Math? Why complicate matters. If we looked at math we would realize that providing free healthcare to 30 million illegals and opening the borders to more would bankrupt our country and make fools of all the Dem candidates for President.

So many men’s teams are turning into a collection of preachy millionaire sjws. This is the women’s teams chance to do the job the men won’t of giving the country something uplifting to agree on.

Everyone who attends one of these games should pay four times as much for a seat and concessions.

I would not be bothered in the slightest if professional soccer (both sexes) ceased to exist in the USA.

U15. I believe that’s “Under 15”. To me that means 13 & 14 year olds, along with the odd 12 yo phenom thrown in.

I support equal pay for equal work, not equal pay for equal job title.

I say we force/allow the women to join the mens league and make/force every team have 50% women on the team ..
One league, both sexes, all the time and then we will see the differences they wont acknowledge ..

This really has nothing to do with USSF. The article correctly states that the *FIFA* World Cup brings in the most money, $6B vs. $100+M. End of story.

Women’s league soccer in the US has a tiny audience, it is dwarfed by MLS attendance, which is dwarfed by the Premier League and others.

This is simply about revenue and they don’t like the fact that women’s soccer, worldwide, is nothing compared to men’s soccer.

The claims of being “more successful” is also irrelevant. When has there ever been a 13-0 score in a men’s WC? Women’s soccer in general is nowhere near as mature as the men’s game - many countries don’t take women’s soccer seriously at all. Therefore it’s no surprise the US team does very well - their opponents are mostly terrible. The 13-0 score against Thailand underscores this. The level of competitiveness isn’t equal.

This is no different than two men’s teams being in different league levels. One may be in a lower league winning every game and another may be in a top league and lose every game. The players in the top league will get higher pay....and it’s the way it should be because of the revenue earned.

Winning a few women/women games isn’t the equal of winning hundreds of matches with Manchester United. The pay isn’t going to be equal either.

Promoters might have the women face off against leading Mexican teams in stadiums in the USA. I suspect that’s a good way to sell expensive tickets.

Sport franchises must be built over decades to be really lucrative.

Actually, for the US Soccer Federation (or whatever they call themselves), the women’s team brought in $50M vs $49M for the men’s team. This deflates the claims in this article.

The bonus paid to US Soccer by FIFA for the US women's winning the women's world cup was $4 Million, most of that bonus was then passed thru to the individual players. The bonus paid to the French men's team which won the last men's world cup was $34 million. Of course they receive other cash from sponsors etc. I'd be interested to know where the $50 million and $49 million figures come from.

Pay the women as much as the Under-15 boys. That will fix it. Either that or lets get some Trannies on the field.

. Women's soccer in the US is an enormous beneficiary from Title IX. Colleges around the country are desperate for women's sports for which they can give scholarships. So US colleges act as farm teams for women's professional soccer in this country. (Exactly the same as for men and football). So women soccer players in this country get four years of high level coaching and experience, courtesy of the US taxpayer, before they start their professional careers, that doesn't happen in other countries.

Ask the women where the extra money is to come from. I know...tax the rich!

Exactly right. I heard there was talk of expanding the number of countries in the tournament. It would only increase the number of lop-sided games. There’s not enough good teams to fill the brackets.
