Carl Bernstein knocks media coverage of Mueller report: 'I think we've made a big mistake'

Investigative journalist Carl Bernstein is calling on the media to do a better job covering special counsel Robert Mueller's report.

Speaking on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” with Brian Stelter on Sunday, Bernstein said the media is focused on the fighting over the report instead of its actual contents.

“I think we’ve made a big mistake in the press about how we’ve covered the Mueller report,” Bernstein said. “We’ve gotten totally wrapped up in the warfare in the Congress between Republicans and Democrats and is there obstruction of justice or is there not obstruction of justice.”

Bernstein, best known for his reporting on the Watergate scandal, pointed to the evidence surrounding President Trump in the more than 400-page report.

“There are dozens and dozens of leads in there about Trump’s business dealings, things having to do with women as well that we know about from elsewhere…about his business dealings, about oligarchs, about money laundering, about Ponzi schemes,” he said.

Bernstein implored the press to do a better job of making clear to Americans the connection between Trump’s actions and the direction of the country.

“We are not making, in the press, the connections between what’s going on in the country and Donald Trump, the president,” Bernstein said. “We need to be covering the country as well and what people are talking about, thinking about, saying at the dinner table and connecting them to what is going on in Washington and in his campaign.”

The Mueller report was first delivered to Attorney General William Barr in March, who released a four-page summary of the special counsel's nearly two years of work to Congress.

Barr then gave a news conference widely covered by the media before publicly releasing a redacted version of the Mueller report.

Mueller will testify before Congress regarding the contents of his report this month.

Bernstein doesn't see the Mueller Report as exoneration. He sees it as a map to track down and report alleged Trump scandals. The MR isn't the end, it's the beginning of thousands of potential leads.

Bernstein is now signaling so-called-journalists to investigate every rumor and innuendo in the MR.

So does Berstein see this as another Watergate?

He sees Trump as Nixon, orchestrating a cover up of illegal activities???

And he’s telling the new generation of “journalists” and “reporters”, many of whom were inspired by Woodward and Bernstein to take down presidents, that this is their moment???

Everything he said was as if he were the DNC campaign advisor. Nothing whatsoever about journalistic integrity or objectivity. PURE ANIMUS.

Bernstein was a dim-witted hanger-on while Woodward did the work.

He’s still a dim-witted hanger-on.

Bernstein has no idea of what the people are talking about at the table.

Bernstein is a Red Diaper Baby - his parents were admitted communists and he has always had an agenda which is not an America-first agenda.

What the Mueller Report really showed was the extent of collaboration between our Goebbels media and the deep state.

Bernstein's life work on Watergate showed little more, in the end, than how a single solitary p*$$y little prick (Mark Felt) could bring down an entire administration and kill millions of innocent Indochinese because he got passed over for a promotion that he thought he deserved.

Instead of doubling down on non-existant obstruction, the most hated profession in the land, must now double down on non-existant illegal business dealings. He must have run out of opioids when he wrote this trash.

I thought the Investigation was started to find out about Russian Interference in the 2016 Election, not an Investigation into POTUS Trump’s entire Life before he entered Politics.

Silly me.

Sounds like he’s calling for yet another round of rape hoaxes.

The press should really be focused on why its reputation is so poor, rather than playing the get-Trump game ad nauseam.

Regardless of Bernstein's motivation for writing what he did, he did get one thing right: the media has been ignoring the contents of the report and parroting the opinions of the Far Left as to what said Leftists are reading into the report.

A true journalist would have addressed the content of the report. To date, I've not seen any deep analysis of the content in whole, just excerpts to justify the opinion of the "reporter". The meat is in the first section; most of the attention has been to the second.

Historians will have the final say about all this, outside of the heat of current politics.

To paraphrase Pope: "Sips of knowledge intoxicate the mind, while deeper drinking sobers it again."

More rape hoaxes?

What ever happened to that advice columnist/author who recently said Trump raped her? That story disappeared from the media so quickly.
