Five Global Evidences for a Young Earth

BY JAKE HEBERT, PH.D. * | FRIDAY, JUNE 28, 2019

The evolutionary story requires millions and billions of years, and most people assume that scientific dating has conclusively proved such ages. However, most dating methods yield age estimates that are much too young for the evolutionary story, even given uniformitarian assumptions.1 These include estimates that look at the earth as a whole. Such estimates should be more reliable because rates averaged over the entire earth should be less subject to local uncertainties.

In this article, we examine five global processes that strongly indicate a young earth.

The age estimates are in the millions (rather than billions) of years - still three orders of magnitude larger than 6,000. And contrary to the glib article summary, noting that the estimates are upper bounds does not erase the problem of the three-orders-of-magnitude difference.

I think the following is entirely possible.

Analogy: It is possible that you can find a painting on canvas and, when you start peeling away the paint, you find out it has a coat of white paint under it, followed by a painting below that. And you may be able to go down several layers.

Fact is, all english translations of the OT are also interpretations, because there are so many places where the words in the original language and english do not have a one to one relationship.

So, when genesis talks about “the earth” in the beginning, it may be talking about the surface of the earth. And it just got a coat of white paint on which our creator could build the NEXT painting. And when we peal back the layer, we find Neanderthal. And when we continue peeling, we find ancient dinosaurs and other amazing things from previous “paintings”.

Revelation tends to support this concept since, at the end the earth is burned up and there is no sea beause the SURFACE of the earth is “coated again in white” for hte new Jerusalem and the next age.

BTW, the implication is that there were many ages before genisis 1 and there will be many ages to come after our Lord’s return. Interestingly, I can find nothing in the bible to contradict this hypothesis. i.e. scripture supports this hypothesis.

The “Institute” forgot to mention that in addition to being only 6,000 years old, the earth is flat.

I’m interested in the idea that the ongoing creation of “fossil fuels” is also possible via a bacterial process (they’ve found interesting stuff at the deepest parts of the ocean) rather that a zillion years of rotting.....

I find nothing in the Bible to contradict my notion
that the Red Sea was formed in the wake of an alien
nuclear attack. Therefore scripture supports it.

"secular scientists still don’t have a workable dynamo theory."

Actually they do, it's called "dynamo theory".

"Magnetic fields are produced by electrical currents, yet these currents grow weaker over time."

The Coriolis effect produces currents in the Earth's liquid iron outer core the same as it does in Earth's liquid water oceans. Iron is electrically conductive, allowing it to retain a magnetic field.

I think they formed the evolutionary lineage to AOC...

I get where you are coming from. :)

My argument, however, is that scripture actually DOES support the hypothesis within the context of scripture itself. Often, when the word “eternal” or “eternity” is used in english langage bibles, it is really interpretting a Greek or Hebrew word that means, for an age, for the ages, for a certain period of time, etc. It all has to be taken in context.

So I believe a person can believe the earth is very old, but our age, starting in genesis, is about 6000 years.

Just ask the OP. ICR has nonsense for everything.
My favorite is if modern scientists are wrong about anything ever...BAM!...Earth is 6000 years old.

What did Peter pen? II Peter 3

This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

AH, the ‘holy prophets’ spoke about this ... you think????

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

*******5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:****
Genesis 1:1

6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

Genesis 1:2 The first flood... this was NOT Noah's flood.

7 ****But the heavens and the earth, which are***** now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.*****

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

How the Creator measures TIME!!!!!!

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

"So, when genesis talks about 'the earth' in the beginning..."

I have the same theory, but not about the creation story. Genesis 1 has so many global elements (i.e. separating water above and water below) and even solar-system scale elements (i.e. creating sun) that I'll count the creation verses as being global and not regional.

But my theory is how the word "earth" or "world" is used in the Noah flood story. Did the flood kill everybody except the few on the ark? Yes. Was everybody spread out all over the earth? I believe not. Therefore, the flood could have been a big ol' honkin' flood that wiped out all the people in the region (a legitimate definition for "world"), which is the same as wiping out everybody on the globe, but not necessarily be a global flood.

I base that theory on how the Hebrew word for "world" is used in other parts of the OT and all of us know it's not talking about the entire globe. For instance, no one looks at a prophecy of a conqueror taking over the world and says to others, "That couldn't have been Alexandra the Great. He didn't take over North America, which is part of the world."
