The University of Washington is conducting an experiment in which pregnant mothers will use the drug cannabis, commonly known as marijuana, to see the effects on infants.
The university has received roughly more than $190,000 from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to conduct the study, which recruits women to take marijuana from the first to last trimester of their pregnancy, according to KOMO-TV.
As the project information details, 70 total subjects will participate in the study. Half of these women will be taking marijuana at least twice a week to combat morning sickness, while the other 35 will take prescribed medication, but no marijuana.

This project is too creepy for words!
Kristan Hawkins: Just say NO to drug experiments on babies
The sleazy Seattle lawyers are already salivating.
Mainly, your babies look like Cheech and Chong.
Yes, and only idiots like Washington State libs would try this.
It has long been established there is no respect for life, so this development is no surprise.
As the legendary Bob Grant used to say (correctly), “It’s sick out there folks...and getting sicker.”.
As relevant today as it was back then.
Is this really a legitimate study to be done?
Or look at another way, is there any possible benefit to the baby, if his/her mother is smoking marijuana???
There may or may not be risk to the baby, but why take chances? We advise pregnant women not to drink alcohol. For the baby and other reasons, we advise them to quit smoking during pregnancy.
I question if we really need a study on this.
https://projectreporter.nih.gov/project_info_description.cfm?aid=9668560&icde=44956345 read the actual link - they are going to recruit women who intend to use cannabis already, not paying people to use cannabis who otherwise wouldn’t. studies like that have been happening for decades.
Damn them! THIS is completely unethical. In a sane world the people who came up with this “study” would be in jail.
So I would assume 2 options, they deliver the baby, analyze for possible birth defects and then post-birth abortion the little one. If not, and defects are present or not, do they provide lifetime treatment for the 70 babies expected to be born, or do they tell the mother that she was paid her stipend and signed the waiver.
WTF??? Please tell me this isn’t real.
'rat debates could come close
Seattle is a going downhill fast - super fast. No one I know will even go there - everywhere outside of the city (I5 corridor) is normal here in WA. Seattle is a perfect example of a lunatic leftist run nightmare, sit back and watch it turn the way of cities like Detroit.
This is a federal government approved study. Federal taxpayer money used.
