reuters ^

Posted on 06/21/2019 5:52:28 PM PDT by Java4Jay

eneral Electric Co said on Friday it plans to demolish a large power plant it owns in California this year after only one-third of its useful life because the plant is no longer economically viable in a state where wind and solar supply a growing share of inexpensive electricity.

I’m so sorry...I mean that sincerely. It’s a good thing we are civilized and always look to remedying the situation through voting and legislation however, the scum that managed to get into positions of authority need to be dragged out by the hair of their heads or their ears and flogged to death. What they have done to CA and our other formerly great cities is criminal. I’m of the opinion that civility should, perhaps, come to an end. Our greatest cities have been ruined by leftist maggots and this trend must come to an end somehow.

But shutting it down to zero-zero, dehumidifying it and leaving it be would not require watchstanders, nor as much money as stripping the site bare.

But, in the link, they mentioned the problems of GE’s H model gas turbine co-gen plants - apparently much harder to startup and shutdown than the later HA models. Fine, Siemens and Mitsubishi have made design errors as well. Just leave it in standby.

Now, all GT overhauls require new parts as well (blades, burners, nozzles, and other consumable items that wear out i the hot gas path.) Fine, it still has operating hours in it.

Wait until the brownouts and blackouts begin in earnest.

Should be a real hoot to watch folks whine.

“How did this happen?”

Yeah, let them wonder...

Read the article. The reason is that the design is bad. It also highlights the stumbles of Boston-based GE with its first H-Class turbine. The complex, steam-cooled H design takes hours to start, suffered technical problems and sold poorly, experts said.

Thanks for your sympathy. I think it’s important for the rest of the country to see what’s going on here since California has been a leader in the progressive movement for years yet look at their record here and in every major city in the country. They’ve actually made nationalism a dirty word on their march to open borders, globalism and socialism. But it’s actually a March to unilateral chaos and anarchy until dictators and oligarchs take over.

“the price here in California is double then anywhere else.”

While I think that’s an overstatement, we just returned from Nevada today. Gas at Costco in Carson City $2.99 a gallon for regular. Same gas in the Bay Area is $3.79. And since there are no refineries in Nevada, the gas comes from CA refineries and is most likely the same CA “blend” that contains the “magic stuff” (tea tree oil and Badger’s pubic hair) that makes less pollution. Oh, and it’s really neat to pick up the hose at the pump that doesn’t have 50 pounds of “vapor recovery” crap included.

PG&E went bankrupt because their equipment was the cause of one of Cali’s worst fires (The Campfire fire) which leveled an entire 30k population town in NorCal.

Not saying this was connected but it may have put the last nail in this plant’s coffin.

There has to be a better way than majority rule. I’s like Packer fans ruling over Bears fans or vice versa. There will be blood.

Rush made the comment the other day that Pres Trump should go out to CA and shed light on the situation to the country. Show what democrat policies actually do...I think it’s an excellent idea. Hope he does it.

Ben Franklin is said to have said,”A Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what’s for supper. A Republic is two wolves and a well armed lamb contesting the vote”. A Republic is what the Founding Fathers set up.

Well the extortionist robbers tax the recycle fee on returnable cans and bottles.

And you can’t get that back.

Smaller amount, but same principle.

How about a income tax refund tax? Go all the way.

GE declined to comment on whether it would take a charge for shutting the plant.

How could they not?
