“Have your Will in order before you try the .308 pick.”

From 50 yards it’ll be fine. I’ve got some copper solids that go right through 1/2 steel plate.

Not that I’d ever damage FS property. That would be bad.

Woody Guthrie is rejoicing “this land was made for you and me!”

Again, I don’t believe you have seen the padlock protection
system for the FS locks. At 50 yards there will nothing left of your copper solid bullet that could damage the padlock after it went through the steel cover. It might even make it more difficult to open.

7500 removed, how many remain?

It is insane that we could possibly have so many “Regulations” (Bureaucratic infringements on our freedom) in a “Free” society.
One of my worst peeves is the overbearing abuse of bureaucratic power to implement or redefine “Regulations” without congressional oversight, or really even participation, beyond passage of the alleged “Law” enabling the bureaucracy.

Our Pres. and elected reps come and go, but Bureaucracy is a CAREER!

7500? Just goes to show you that bureacrats justify their jobs by writing new, obtrusive regulations.

I not particularly against these gates being locked at certain times.

Last year during that extreme fire season they had volunteers going around checking back roads. One happens to be a person I work with in the woods. He personally put out over 20 unattended fires in that period.

These people go out and camp and start a campfire and then think its OUT, then it sits and smolders for a day or so. Some, he put out were actually burning. I believe they reported on the news that there were in excess of 300 unattended campfires statewide that were put out.

Then comes winter. Snow is deep on the roads and they have to run those roads with their pickups. They get stuck and sometimes 30 to 40 miles out in the middle of no place.

Other than that, if these ignorant people would do as they are supposed to do, there would be no need for ANY gates.

But, sometimes, its pure ignorance by the USFS when they lock these gates. No reason whatsoever at certain times.

While everyone is distracted by noise, the Trump Administration’s real achievements have been the most quiet: deregulation and appointment of federal circuit and district judges,

Next, we need to undo the California Desert Protection Act, at least all of the new “Wilderness” areas. The Dems did this in 1994, just before they lost both houses of Congress, and they locked up tens of millions of desert as wilderness. It was basicaly a f-u to fellows like me who like jeeps.

Probably not.

Woody Guthrie was a socialist. His interpretation of that song was exactly the same as those of the Watermelon Party all property (land) belongs to the people (aka government).

Regardless, let the States monitor their own territories, not empty-suit Washington DC bureaucrats.

Man I never knew that about Guthrie.
Here’s a snip from wiki:

Notwithstanding Guthrie’s later claim that “the best thing that I did in 1936 was to sign up with the Communist Party”,[29] he was never a member of the Party. He was noted as a fellow traveler—an outsider who agreed with the platform of the party while avoiding party discipline.[30] Guthrie wrote a column for the Communist newspaper, People’s World. The column, titled “Woody Sez”, appeared a total of 174 times from May 1939 to January 1940. “Woody Sez” was not explicitly political, but was about current events as observed by Guthrie. He wrote the columns in an exaggerated hillbilly dialect and usually included a small comic.[31] These columns were published posthumously as a collection after Guthrie’s death.[7] Steve Earle said of Guthrie, “I don’t think of Woody Guthrie as a political writer. He was a writer who lived in very political times.”[32]

Man I never knew that about Guthrie.

Yes, it is sad. The guy wrote and sang some uplifting music when the common man really needed it.

But, a lot of people fell for socialist propaganda at that time as they do now. And the people today do not have an economic depression as an excuse.
