What comes next after the United States?
American Thinker ^ | June 15, 2019 | Eric Utter

As Washington was the "one indispensable man," the U.S. is the one indispensable nation. The less its leaders and its citizens believe that, the more it is proven to be true, as the world situation deteriorates. Yet many Americans are experiencing a crisis of faith, deeper and more sinister than the "malaise" with which Jimmy Carter said we were afflicted in the late 1970s.

Truth be told, the United States has been in the midst of a "Cold Culture War" for several decades. That war is essentially over. The progressives won. In 1993, Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.) coined the phrase "defining deviancy down" to describe the redefining of deviancy to exempt conduct previously stigmatized and brand behavior previously considered abnormal and abhorrent as normal and mainstream. (He was vehemently against this practice). Can anyone imagine a Democrat saying such a thing today? Shortly thereafter came the "trickle-down immorality" of the Clinton years. In more recent times, marriage has been redefined, with homosexuality approved and celebrated and the LGBTQIIA+ community holding public "PRIDE!" parades all over the fruited plain, and men who claim to be women have won the "right" to excrete or compete in any bathroom, locker room, or venue their transgendered hearts desire.

The Left never gives in, never tires, never wavers, always presses on. The Ten Commandments are banned from public spaces. Conservatives are prevented from speaking on college campuses or shouted down if they are "allowed" to speak. Those wearing "MAGA" hats are the targets of bullying and violence. Statues of Civil War figures and former presidents are removed as statues of Baphomet are unveiled. Christianity is boldly mocked in movies, on television, and by "entertainers" and academics. Anti-Semitism is on the rise.

You are absolutely right. People will try to get us angry and acting like them. This country has been going downhill during my whole lifetime. 1965 was the biggest turning point with Griswald vs Conn and the legalization of birth control pills. That changed the landscape of morality and attitudes in our country. And it was allowed to slip by uncontested. As long as that is legal we are doomed, IMHO

I think it is impossible to keep the country intact except by surrendering completely to the madness of extreme leftism. But, if the surrender is complete, destruction is sure to follow. An army of whiny transgenders is not going to prove much of a defense.

The best hope is a split-up of the current territory, with a homeland for decent people safeguarded by a wall and a strong army.

I am still hopeful that people will wake up, before it is too late. The election of Trump is an indication, but we have to keep fighting.

Don't look now but Russia and China both have some issues that are taking up quite a bit of their time now.

Alaska and Hawaii might return to something close to what they had before they became states.

I taught Political Science for better than a quarter century to post baby boom Americans.

Along about the end of the 70's I started kicking around the division of the country similar to what this map shows. I usually figured four or maybe five countries emerging from the US but what amazed me is that I can't remember one student in all that time expressing any alarm over my thesis nor one who seemed to care.

Might be time.

Our constitutional republic is self-renewing as long as we stay under law. There is a bright future ahead if we can just avoid war.

Trump has given us some hope. But the socialist/relativists are relentless. I have recently started going to the Latin Mass and am surprised to see young couples with children mixed in with all ages. People who care want a return to normality to quote Warren Gamaliel Harding lol

“Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as “bad luck.” Robert Heinlein.

Actually if it were up to me, I’d restore the Kingdom of Hawaii, which was illegally overthrown by the US.

Look up the word “incrementalism”.

They have already won. POTUS Trump is the Dutch Boy with his finger in the Dike, but he can only plug the hole for eight years at best.

The Disunited States which would then become a bunch of Third World enclaves self governing by despots attacking other enclaves.

You can bet if there was an “African American Republic” the Russians and Chinese would make them a sweet deal to put their bases on their territory.

Right on. My generation is the last to remember WWII and how great and thriving we were until about 1970. The drug culture set in big time and now there so many people are addicted. They can’t think straight, they have no drive and ambition, their only thought is for their next fix. Education has become brain washing. Eight-year olds are being taught how to put condoms on cucumbers. Younger generations have become soft and degenerate for the big part. The US has almost completed a 180 degree turn.

“The Left never gives in, never tires, never wavers, always presses on.”

This article is superficial blah blah BS. This statement is only true if the “Left” is changed to federal bureaucracies. We are being dominated via hyper regulation and surveillance by the technocratic state. All we say is being monitored and if someone puts down something hyperbolic to blow off steam (I’m being nice), that can be used as corroborating evidence against them. The federal register is so voluminous that no one individual can possibly know what’s in it even in their field, and the rules are created by bureaucrats.

We need to get back to the idea of real federalism, ie states rights if not then break up the nation. No more federal police state and big fat regulatory agencies consuming hundreds of billions. States should do most if not all of the policing and most business regulation. If a state wants abortion, let them. We can have prohibition, death sentences for drug dealers in one state and decrimilization of drugs in another. I doubt we will have wild extremes, but we will have more approaches. Citizens will gravitate to what suits them.

Sure we would have wacky states, but the differences between well run and poorly run states would be do great that people would vote with their feet at a rate of double or triple than they do right now.
