It Started With a Lie: Bruce Ohr's Linchpin Role in Collusion Narrative
Real Clear Politics ^ | Eric Felten

Posted on 06/13/2019 3:39:58 PM PDT by Steely Tom

A mystery remains: To some in his narrow circle, Ohr was upfront about the compromising nature of his connections, yet he hid that fact from officials charged with overseeing ethics at the Justice Department. Why, then, did Bruce Ohr admit to the FBI that his wife worked for opposition researchers Fusion GPS while failing to disclose it to the DoJ? The answer speaks volumes not just about how the Trump-Russia affair gained traction but about the way Washington works.

It's my understanding that SOP when you going after a big conspiracy you first focus on the lesser players trying to get them to flip on the leaders...using the "carrot & stick" method.

To me at least this thing is complicated enough that I can't tell the players without a score card. But my guess is that the US Attorney appointed to work on this (from Connecticut?) will know how to proceed.

Thanks for the article. Every time you turn around there's another expose of the never ending deep state corruption.

I like this observation from the comments section:

Poor smarmy Paul Manafort fudges income on a private mortgage application and basically gets life in Rikers. Bruce Ohr hides known corrupting contacts on his ethics disclosure forms for his position as a Deputy Director of the FBI in an attempt to fraudulently spy on an American presidential candidate and gets a cushy government job, fat benefits, a high salary, and a permanent pension at the cost of the American tax payer. Yeah, justice in America is blind, all right. At least when it tries to spot Democrats committing crimes.

This abuse of power is an epidemic, not wholly coordinated, and likely involves every federal government agency, as well as the press, many foreign governments, and members of Congress.

In our federal government, at least the CIA, FBI, DOJ and State Department were all vectors using cooked up rumors to publicly smear the candidate, president-elect, and sitting president. But the Steele dossier is not the only focal point. There is the recent Mueller dossier (misnamed "report" to give it legitimacy), the "Russinas hacked the DNC" report by CIA, NSA and FBI back in January 2017, and chronic lies about remarks made by Trump on all subjects. Charlottesville lie, Kahn lie, encourages violence lie, the list goes on and on.

The government players violated civil rights all over the place, but in a way that naturally evades public detection. Snooping and wiretapping are clandestine activites - power that is there and always ripe for abuse. If you think the government can be trusted with that power, well, bless your heart. The government is not your friend, and it is dishonest by nature.

He was “demoted” while still getting a pay bonus of $43,000.

By the DOJ. But I ask why they want Conway to resign for political activities but Ohr is still there.

"He was “demoted” while still getting a pay bonus of $43,000."

ALL of these snakes seem to have gotten "bonuses"

Bonuses for WHAT, landing that new million dollar advertising account?

Increasing productivity?

Cutting excess costs?

Saving the government money?

It’s the same old Clinton Democrat song and dance, accuse your opponents of doing what you’re doing first, get out in front of negative news.

This would make it look like tit for tat retribution, since they’ve already accused Conway of it.
