Leander will close library Saturday for church's Drag Queen Story Time

The City of Leander will close the public library Saturday as a "precaution" because it expects demonstrations related to a private "Drag Queen Story Time" event.

The city announced the closure Tuesday in the following post on its website: Leander Public Library will be closed to the public on Saturday, June 15. While one of the library conference rooms will remain accessible to participants of the Drag Queen Story Time private event, ticket reservations through Open Cathedral are required for guest participation.

On event day, the city will designate areas near the library and manage resources to allow for peaceful assembly outdoors, and vehicle parking will be available in the field just north of library grounds.

Yes, if not worse. Seems like there should be some kind of child abuse statute that should apply.

Open Cathedral: A Progressive Church
Pastor Ryan is a wide-eyed dreamer. After 15 years as a youth and children’s minister Ryan started Open Cathedral. “I was tired of church sucking.”

Something weird in general happening with libraries.

The library in the tiny, supposedly conservative town I moved to a few years ago was recently remodeled with a $1million grant.
But most of the books of any value & on all subjects— science, history, classic literature, biographies — were tossed, replaced with “popular” fiction-— cheap romance novels & murder mysteries.

Shelves & shelves full of this crap, with a few gardening and pop psychology books. More like a mall bookstore than a library, except HUGE.

New librarian has no library science degree & has never heard of well known American & European authors, scholars.

Disgusted, I started driving to next town’s library, 30 minutes away.

Then the EXACT SAME type of “remodeling” happened there!
Millions of good books thrown out, replaced with junk!
And capable, educated librarians replaced with idiot functionaries!

Is this a well-intentioned but misguided attempt to attract readers by offering mind candy? Or something else?

In context with the Drag Queens, I’m thinking something much more insidious is going on, something akin to burning books — those that arent PC.

We need to pay attention to this.

Who EXACTLY are the people & groups infiltrating & subverting our public libraries & library associations?

Are our state legislators aware of what’s going on?

So a government entity is going to close normal access to the public at a public building in order to accommodate a religion?

Let’s see; close a Public Library for a private queer fest held by a church. Seems to bang loudly on the wrong gong.

Librarians were radicalized over 30 years ago. This is nothing new. What’s new is that they no longer give a sh!t about hiding who they really are or what they are doing. They are as liberal as teachers.

True. Local citizens need to lay-off all library staff, cut hours and get community volunteer staff for library.

“After 15 years as a youth and children’s minister...”

I’m automatically suspicious of any grown man that chooses a profession that gives him an excuse to be around unrelated children unsupervised.

Not saying they are all pervs, but pervs tend to gravitate towards those jobs.

Libaries, even if they are publicly funded, are still essentially a business, and businesses give the consumers what they demand. Few people read physical books anymore, and even fewer read “weighty” material.

I read books on the train every day and I am always intrigued to see what other people are reading when I spot another book reader. Invariably, they are reading popular trash, self-help books, or whatever flavor of the month the talk show ladies are pushing. The last one I remember seeing that wasn’t in one of those categories was some edgy guy reading Anton LaVey’s Satanic Bible; not quite Great Book level literature but at least it was something different.

Honestly, who goes to libraries any more? And the local municipalities spend millions upgrading or replacing our local libraries. I wonder if they ever do studies to find out if they shouldn’t be downsizing these money pits.

Many low income people do. Not everyone has internet access. And they offer many programs. The men in drag is not a program should not be offered. No child should be indoctrinated with anything sexual, except stranger danger. It is simply child abuse. Communist city, church, school & library staff should be fired.
