Trump [Anti-Religious Freedom] Judicial Pick to Be Withdrawn
The Wall Street Journal ^ | June 11, 2019 | Natalie Andrews and Lindsay Wise

Mr. Bogren, a Kalamazoo-based lawyer, was nominated for the Western District of Michigan judgeship in March by the Trump administration. But Republican Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Josh Hawley of Missouri and Thom Tillis of North Carolina all voiced objections to Mr. Bogren’s nomination . . .

Republicans objected to Mr. Bogren’s recent writings in a case in which he was defending East Lansing, Mich. The city barred a Catholic couple from participating in the farmers market over their opposition to hosting same-sex marriages on their farm, and the couple sued. In defending the city, Mr. Bogren compared the couple’s religious beliefs about same-sex marriage with the racism of the Ku Klux Klan, arguing that not celebrating same-sex weddings on their farm was “no different than the ‘White Applicants Only’ sign.”

The bracket phrase should have read [Anti-Catholic],

Because Catholics were the target NOT "religious freedom"!

“At least we found out early enough.”

Yes, but it looks like another of Trump’s “unforced errors” in selecting people.
I just wonder when he’s going to RIF the people who are “advising him” on these appointments? There is so much to really love about President Trump, but the way he picks people for public service isn’t one of them.

Vetting nominees for ANYTHING is NOT one of Trump’s strong suits.

I wonder how many other godawful picks have been confirmed. Trump clearly has lousy staff picking these lower court judges.

Indeed. I don’t know if Trump is just this out of sync with the cultural issues, but he needs to rely on his (conservative) advisers much more.

Gee, banned from civic participation because they are “bigots”.

Unconstitutional and ILLEGAL.

Even if you substitute race for LBGT.

most- or at least many religions think homosexuality is an abomination- and therefore would have been barred by that fella

Wow. It’s amazing that if Trump makes one misstep the anti-Trumpists come out in force here. Can’t wait for the two biggest anti-Trumpists to weigh in if they haven’t already.

They need to raise their Social Credit Score in order to participate in public market. They must change their crop to organic arugula, convert the barn to an abortion clinic and host a petting zoo staffed by drag queens before applying again.

Glad they killed this guys nomination. NOT the kind of judges we need.

His Statement was aimed specifically at Catholics.

again- he would have replied the same IF any other religious organization had tried to participate- He considers opposition to homosexuality to be hateful- which is why these senators want him out

“over their opposition to hosting same-sex marriages on their farm,”

He barred them not for being catholic specifically, but for their personal and their religion’s belief that homosexuality is wrong

When Trump is sorting so many for so many jobs he is bound to pull up one that smells bad from time to time but there are hound dogs out there who catch the scent and start baying the alert.

Wait...what? I am not an anti-Trumpist. I just don't trust the deep state staffers who remain infecting his administration, possibly (as they did with this nominee) deliberately steering the president wrong.
