The liberal group Tax March announced on Tuesday that it is launching a bus tour to take aim at the Republican 2017 tax-cut law and to urge politicians and activists to push for policies that increase taxes on the rich.
Tax March's “2019 Tax the Rich Bus Tour” will begin in Miami on June 26, right before the first Democratic presidential debate, and end in Detroit on July 30, ahead of the second debate.
The group said that the tour will include events in 19 states and the District of Columbia.
“During our Tax the Rich bus tour, Tax March will elevate the voices of American workers and families by showcasing the harmful effects of the 2017 GOP tax bill and insisting that every candidate running for president include repealing the disastrous [Tax Cuts and Jobs Act] and making the wealthy pay their fair share in their platform," said Tax March Executive Director Maura Quint.
Several prominent Democrats, including 2020 presidential candidates, have been floating ways to increase taxes on the rich in recent months, including through wealth taxes, expanding the estate tax and rolling back the GOP tax law.
Tax March earlier this year launched a seven-figure campaign to push for raising taxes on the wealthy and corporations, partnering with other organizations including Americans for Tax Fairness, the Patriotic Millionaires and Public Citizen.
"Our economy is rigged—and for decades, it’s only been getting worse. Not since the era immediately before the Great Depression has the difference between the haves and the have-nots been as wide as it is today.
That’s why Tax March is launching the Tax the Rich project, to show every lawmaker in Congress and every candidate for president that the American people want the highest income earners and the wealthiest individuals to pay their fair share in taxes."
And where, pray tell, is the gap between the rich and the poor greatest? In liberal Democrat states like California and New York.

Isn’t that the truth. socialism just seems to be a tool of rich Leftists to manipulate the rest of us! If wealthy embers of both parties refuse to listen to us then they should just pay our taxes. Since the “gang of 8” I know longer feel like protecting “the rich”. If the corporate media wants socialism then they (the corporations) should just pay more taxes. If they want open borders than by God there isn’t a tax I wouldn’t put on all of them. If they are going to vote for Hillary than they need to feel the weight of their own values. Funny how we spent the last thirty years lowering taxes on these people who actually run both parties and the more we lower them the more left they become.
