WATCH: Rep. Matt Gaetz Goes After 'Prop' John Dean at the Dems' Mueller Show Trial
PJ Media ^ | JUNE 10, 2019 | MATT MARGOLIS

On Monday, John Dean, the former Nixon White House counsel, testified at the Judiciary Committee Hearing called "Lessons From The Mueller Report.” Dean has no connection to the Mueller investigation but is a CNN contributor who has written a number of anti-Republican books in recent years and testified during the Watergate hearings. In other words, Dean’s purpose for testifying at the hearing had nothing to do with facts. He’s just the expert on the disgraced President Richard Nixon, who resigned from the presidency for his involvement in the Watergate cover-up.

There was a memorable exchange between Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Mr. Dean during the hearing. When Gaetz spoke, he entered into the record a December 2005 essay by John Dean, titled “George W. Bush as the New Richard M. Nixon: Both Wiretapped Illegally, and Impeachably." Gaetz then asked Mr. Dean, “How many American presidents have you accused of being Richard Nixon?” It was a humorous moment, and Dean responded that he had actually written a book called Worse Than Watergate: The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush.

Gaetz then proceeded to ask Mr. Dean how much money he’s made off accusing presidents of being Richard Nixon, in rebutting an objection to that line of questioning. “How much money do you make from CNN?” Gaetz asked. A flustered Dean was unable to provide an answer, but Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler came to his rescue, banging the gavel and objecting to Gaetz line of questioning.” But Gaetz insisted on making his point. “Wait a second, Mr. Dean has made a cottage industry out of accusing presidents of acting like Richard Nixon. I would like to know how much money he makes based on making these accusations and exploiting them for his own...

Mr Dean I think you better take what the GOP questioners are giving you. You might not recognize it but it’s your ARSE.

Liddy Wins, John Dean Loses June 29, 2000

G. Gordon Liddy, who served four years in prison for his role in the operation, has said it was not until he read Silent Coup that he finally learned the real reason for the caper. He said that White House Counsel John Dean had ordered an earlier break-in to plant a bug on a phone that was used to arrange dates with call girls for visiting Democratic dignitaries, and that the second break-in was ordered after address books giving the names of the girls being called fell into the hands of the police.

Silent Coup claimed that this was of great concern to Dean because his lover’s name was listed under the code name “Clout,” a reference to her connection with Dean. The book said Dean ordered the second break-in to find out if the Democrats had any career-threatening dirt on him. One of the men who was caught, Rolando Martinez, an active CIA agent, was found to have a key to a desk where it was thought the dirt on Dean might be found. The key was found to fit the desk of DNC secretary Maxie Wells.

Bring up the name of Richard Nixon does not have anywhere near the negative, turbulence it used to have back in the 70’s. People younger than 45 will need to be taught about the fables of Evil Incarnate on steroids; aka Tricky Dick.

I often wondered how Pat Nixon, a Cloth Coat Republican withstood all the hate.
Their present hatred of all things Trump comes close.

I used to listen to G Gordon Liddy a lot. I even ordered a stacked and packed calendar one year. It was great. Funniest story he ever told was about the breakin and the guys and his capture. I miss his show. Dean is a nitwit.

Back when all this was going on and with only 3 TV stations and wall to wall coverage, my dad pegged Dean as a traitor based on the limited information and when he testified, dad was even more convinced.

This is OK, but Jim Jordan really made Dean squirm. Jim Jordan kicked his ass today.

I wonder what Dean’s wife looks like these days? She was always visible back in the Watergate hearings days.

I have hemorrhoids of greater integrity than John Dean but according to my physician not near as ugly nor loathsome . On a scale of 1 to 10 hemorrhoids are about a 5. John Dean is minus 10. He is as loathsome man.

True but for who? The Dems bring these weasels in and the GOP reps skewer them in front of cameras for all to see. It may help with their base, who wouldn’t leave them if chased with a mop covered in crap, and moves the middle farther to the right. They need to bring in more of these clowns. Russian Roulette with semi-autos is what it looks like.

John Dean is one of those guys who loved the attention he had as a star to take down Nixon. Now he is just a tool for the left and cannot put lightning back in the bottle.

‘Silent Coup claimed that this was of great concern to Dean because his lover’s name was listed under the code name “Clout,” a reference to her connection with Dean. ‘

His lover, it was Maureen AKA Mo who married Dean that summer. Dean arranged a private loan from his law firm to finance his honeymoon. The loan is what is usually called embezzlement and was discovered and it was one reason Dean was propelled into the Committee to Reelect the President. As a aside the first time my mother saw ‘Mo Dean’ on TV she instantly said ‘she looks like an expensive prostitute,’ She was her hubby still is.
