A 17-year-old Dutch girl was legally allowed to kill herself using euthanasia after she was raped when younger and spent years battling depression, according to a report Tuesday.
“Love is letting go, in this case,” Noa Pothoven of Arnhem wrote in an Instagram post announcing her choice to die in the living room of her home Sunday.
Pothoven — who was sexually abused at 11 and raped three years later — said she was sick of suffering “unbearable pain.
"Maybe this comes as a surprise to some, given my posts about hospitalization, but my plan has been there for a long time and is not impulsive,” she wrote.
“I will get straight to the point: within a maximum of 10 days I will die,” she added. “After years of battling and fighting, I am drained. I have quit eating and drinking for a while now, and after many discussions and evaluations, it was decided to let me go because my suffering is unbearable.

It’s kind of like an Islamic honor killing.
But oh so civilized in the European way.
That might have given her a sense of justice therefore hope. The left’s warped vision of justice creates double victims suffering.
Yup, you'd think so. The sexual abuse was six years ago, the rape was only three years ago. Did it make the news, I wonder? Most of the articles on the girl are copies of the one above, with little detail on the attacker(s).
Also, seems like a Catch-22 would be obvious here. She has mental and/or emotional anguish due to the trauma - how is she deemed competent to decide to end her own life? This is far different from a "living will" scenario.
I am not so vain to believe I would have the words to help this child but I know there are those who do and can.
I would not want to support a society who chose to not allow the voices which could have helped her.
Her story is horrific. The ending is evil.
I doubt this poor girl really understood the consequences of her actions, and I suspect she did not get common sense counseling either. Follow the money and I think you will find some recovered memory cult leaders, I mean counselors, whose expensive and many years long “treatment” create a psychological condition that is far far worse than the original trauma, which she could have easily been helped to get through and put behind her. With proper counselling by sensible people for a few weeks to a few months, she would have quickly returned to a happy normal childhood; just as many people who endured all sorts of terrible and painful trauma have.
Post-modern societies will destroy themselves with mental illness caused by meaninglessness, with no ability to repair themselves.
Still a teenager. She’d be whacked in the head without the trauma.
They worship death that’s why they make this “legal”. This is an absolutely sick story.
Am I out of line to say those who allowed a depressed teenage girl to commit suicide, should be put to death?
I’ve been in some dark places, but this is horrible. To be done at 17 is just too sad for words.
We could have saved much trouble and let the Nazis have their way. What society has become is shocking.
