Republican senators sent the White House a sharp message on Tuesday, warning that they were opposed to President Trump’s plans to impose tariffs on Mexican imports, just hours after the president said lawmakers would be “foolish” to try to stop him.

...

“I want you to take a message back” to the White House, Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas, told the attorneys, according to people familiar with the meeting. “You didn’t hear a single yes” from the Republican conference. He called the proposed tariffs a $30 billion tax hike on Texans.

They didn’t have to call. They could just reach down and pat them on the butt... as they finished off with them.

Yes, situation normal for the GOP. If the Republicans ever stood up and did the things their voters want it would be absolutely shocking.

The U.S. Senate is the most corrupt institution in the history of the country.

And it isn’t because of only the Democrat members.

A 30k Mother of All Caravans headed to the southern U.S. border. ...

On top of a opervious caravan of 1,000 Haitians and Africans with some from the far East and India mixed in.

Followed now by a 2,500 strong caravan of more Haitians and Africans in Chiapas/Tapachula, Mexico, heading north to the southern U.S. border.

Sorry ‘bout that, but whenever I see something from the NYSlime that includes the phrase “according to people familiar with the meeting”, I have to insist on considering it as utter BS until verified by a genuine news source.

...no, the Slime ain’t been in that select circle for me for over 50 years now.

I’m from Texas, and I think that Cruz is an idiot on this issue.

Yes, in the normal course of things, tariffs are bad things because they are taxes and interfere with commerce.

However, in this case the threat of tariffs is a measure designed to grab the Mexican government by the balls so that they actually pay attention to our desire to get them to stop giving safe passage of Central Americans to our border. Trump doesn’t want the tariffs, but he wants to stop the utter flood of illegal immigrants even more than that. In this, I utterly agree with him.

We’ve tried every other means of grabbing Mexico’s attention on this issue short of digging up Blackjack Pershing and having him and half the Army go into Mexico. Trump is the only guy willing to negotiate from a position of strength, and I LIKE IT!

Phuck Cruz, even though I voted for the guy. Ted, YOU ARE WRONG on this issue.

I held Cruz in high esteem. What a disappointment his race was and also, of course, this is extremely disappointing.

So sad.
