Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced on Tuesday that he’ll recall lawmakers to the state Capitol in the coming weeks to take up a package of gun-control legislation, which he said is urgently needed to prevent killings like Friday’s mass shooting in Virginia Beach.
Northam said he plans to convene a special legislative session this summer.
The Democrat said in an Associated Press interview ahead of his announcement that he wants the Republican-controlled General Assembly to hear from the public about the need for “common-sense” law related to guns and accessories.
Republicans have previously rejected Northam’s gun control bills out of hand, but a top GOP lawmaker signaled Monday that he’s open to a legislative debate. […]
Northam’s package of bills includes legislation that directly relates to Friday’s shooting — including a ban on silencers and high capacity ammunition magazines as well as broadening the ability of local governments to limit guns in city buildings. Yes, all killings are the result of a law-deficiency. We can only hope that our Statist masters will eventually craft enough laws to keep us completely safe, so long as we aren’t babies who have just survived abortions.

Nothing wrong with debating legislation. It’s what they’re supposed to do. Hopefully they don’t decide that it is acceptable to trod on more of our rights.
I wonder what they will propose, Babies born alive after an attempted Abortion will have to go through a ten day waiting period to get a Gun?

The fact is that the only thing which would have stopped Craddock et al in these horrid situations is a man or woman with a firearm at hand. Laws will do nothing but enable the people in our society who decide they want to kill people for no lawful reason. So, to pretend that additional laws restricting arms, possession or use thereof in more places only fuels the fire of opportunity. Did you happen to notice how Craddock and the myriad of other murdering miscreants do not attack gun stores, police stations or firing ranges? They do not so do because they know that they will be met with effective countervailing force.
If you are truly interested in reducing or preventing further crimes, then by executive action or legislative process enable law-abiding citizens of Virginia to carry or possess arms everywhere. Gun free zones attract bad guys.
