Most likely fake news but at any rate, CIC/POTUS can configure America’s ships any way CIC/POTUS wants/commands.

The US Navy acknowledged Friday that a request had been made regarding the USS John S. McCain in relation to President Donald Trump's visit to Japan, but said the ship ended up remaining in its normal configuration.

So what!

I’m sorry - I need an interpreter for this...”leadership” is who and “knock it off” was said by who to who? Must be too early in the morning for me...

“”Two Navy officials told CNN on Wednesday that the White House Military Office had asked lower-level US Navy officials about keeping the ship out of view — an impractical request as the ship was under repair, one of the officials said.
“Once leadership heard about it, they said knock it off,” a senior Navy official told CNN.””

Whoever made the request might want to resign,
and if not be asked to leave

The whole affair stinks of pettiness.

It's really embarrassing.

It either suggests that the President himself ordered it through the White House Military Office which is disgraceful or that someone underneath the President ordered it without the President's approval, --in which case Trump employs staffers who are either incompetent or deliberately trying to make him look bad.

Why would any sane conservative believe any fake news from CNN, about our President.

Given McCain’s involvement in Spygate, his family and their allies are NUTS to carp about this...

This isn't about the USS John S. McCain. It is about the Sailors who serve aboard her.

Whoever made the request should be fired and permanently removed from the WH. It just might be that a part of the problem we have keeping President Trump focused on the Deplorable Agenda, ending wars, supporting true conservatives, is that someone(s) with very bad judgement are speaking for the President.

If a story as dumb as this one seems important to the rapidly sinking CNN, doesn’t it speak to their extraordinary pettiness and highlight the obvious fact the Libs ae totally out of ideas?

Details I heard yesterday suggest that this is much ado about nothing.

If the ship is undergoing repair, as the article stated, wouldn’t that be a valid reason to keep the ship out of sight? Scaffolding and heavy equipment do not make for a good military photo op. It could give adversaries the idea that our military assets are falling apart. That is not the best image to project about our military.

Sounds to me like what a trump enemy would request. Then they would leak it to the news. There are still Auntie Trump bureaucrats in the White House. And in the military

I say it’s the broad at the WSJ. FAKE NEWS. When the whole truth finally comes out we will be in the dogdays of August, and the correction will be on page 27, below the fold, in 6 point type.

Its always “ someone” or “ many”. Never a definitive “who, when, what, where, why”

That used to be the journalistic standard. Now its all about “ clicks” on websites, and fake headlines..

Something like this is raised to the level of a “matter”?

Post #36 was meant for another thread, although it is relevant here to the extent McCain was a Benedict Arnold and enemy of America’s values of Life, Liberty, and Free Pursuits.

First off, it’s a “ship”, not a boat...

Secondly:

Per Wikipedia:

On 11 July 2018, at a rededication ceremony, Senator John McCain was added as a namesake, along with his father and grandfather.
