McDonald only allowed handgun ownership, not Concealed Carry.
I haven't been back since before Obama was elected. Even my mother, who worked for years at Marshall-Fields, won't get nearer than Dupage County.
I'll admit to a certain bigotry. If I were king, I'd build a wall along I-294 and let the place starve.
Some legislators from districts outside of the Chicago area would like to see Chicago become another state. Except for democrats, there is not much in common.
It was Moore v. Madigan, decided by the federal Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals against Illinois' "may issue" concealed carry law. The state of Illinois was probably pressured not to appeal to the Supreme Court because that would risk overturning "may issue" laws in other states.
This decision came as a big surprise to me. I never thought that anti-gun Illinois would get shall-issue concealed carry sooner than California.
Maybe he did ! The whole point of aiming center of mass is that one can tolerate greater error and still get a good hit.
Moore v Madigan, thanks.
Mrs. L and I have had our CCLs going on two years now. I work in Chicago and carry legally every single day.
Like I said, take the classes, pay the fees, get the background check, and you will get your permit. There are surprisingly few No Guns signs even downtown.
L
Excellent. I carry my Sig P238 every day. Nice gun.
Springfield XDS In .45. Love that little gun. Fits me like a glove.
Good luck to you, sir.
L
How do you carry it? I use a pocket holster in my front right pants pocket. It's about as heavy as I would want it to be.
IWB strong side most days. I had a very nice custom holster made by Jackson Leather in NC. Wasnt cheap and it took 3 months but its super comfortable and looks like the day I bought it even after almost 2 years of daily use.
A double mag pouch weak side and Im good to go. Worth every penny.
I wear business casual most days and it fits for that.
L
I wore "cubicle casual" prior to retirement.
Does "business casual" in this context mean you wear the equivalent of a sport coat that would cover the gun? Unbuttoned, do you worry about exposing the gun?
I experimented with a lot of things but finally just modified my pants by lengthening the pocket. I can have my hand on the gun while concealed in my pocket.
California doesn't allow the XDS to be sold here, although that may change in a year or two if things go well in the new courts Trump is providing.
Depends on the weather but usually a pair of khaki pants, collared shirt, and a sweater. Sport coats and a tie for more formal meetings. Then it stays buttoned or I take it off and put it in my laptop bag. A quick stop in the mens room before I go back on the street and Im back in business so to speak.
On warmer days its a polo untucked.
CA doesnt allow the XDS? Wow. Whats the issue with it? Its basically a single stack Glock clone.
L
retired cop?
circa 1970s we had a parolee walked into the El Monte PD to kill a detective. No gun. A cop shot I’m with a .38 between the eyes. Knocked him down. He lived.
In the institution, we locked him up and he bent the bottom of a cell door up and crawled out of his cell, just to show he could.
Some people eat their wheaties; some don’t
OH The EMPD switched to 9 mm
California has a roster of "not unsafe" handguns. Initially handguns had to have a hammer block so the gun wouldn't fire if dropped. Then they added the requirement to have a "chamber loaded indicator" and a magazine disconnect. More recently they have added a requirement that handguns have a mechanism that marks ejected cases with a code that identifies the serial number.
Many manufacturers refused to jump through the early hoops. Nobody has tried to do the case marking thing. As a result, the list can't grow. Manufacturers are even required to jump through hoops to keep their guns on the list even if they don't change a thing. There are still no Glock Gen 4s on the list.
yes, same.
Its way past time for gun makers to tell CA agencies no more guns until these stupid regulations are repealed.
Barrett did it. Time for Sig, Glock, and Colt to do the same.
L
Absolutely. I hope it was Kennedy holding things up in the Supreme Court and not Roberts. I hope Ginsburg ... well, never mind.
I have a bag full of pistol grips. I have another bag full of A2 flash hiders. Up until recently I had a bag full of magazine springs.
Recently we had a District Court set aside the magazine limitation law for a week. Estimates are that at least several million normal capacity gun magazines were imported into California. If Trump's Supreme Court sets Californians free, the purchasing power of gun owners in California could cause a significant bump in our GDP.
The Midwest and the State would starve with it. Chicago has always been an economic powerhouse and still is.
Giving up the cities is admitting defeat.
