Glad you had some fun with it. Hope you made a couple of bucks at the same time. Rock On!

"Invoking racism and provoking fear through thinly veiled messaging is not what I want from our leaders."

Then, tell the Democrats to stop it.

Taylor Swift was on the cover. My first thought was, what is a 14 year old boy doing on the cover of Maxim?
///////////////////////

Two thoughts come immediately to mind:
First, Taylor Swift before the fame and fortune was a middle class teenager who used her talents to write and sing about her actual life. Once she became unbelievably successful. her life totally changed and she became a single minded, self-centered, ego-maniacal adult manipulated by media pimps who destroyed her talent for perceived material gain.

Second, Taylor Swift has a net worth of $320 million (2018 figures). It is no longer about music or record sales. It is now about global elites, petty burgeois wealth preservation, virtue signaling to the “right” people, and having the correct political connections.

And yet no man can seem to stand her for now than a week.

No money. Just fun. And it got my daughters started. :)

Good. I’m still playing at jams around town 2 or 3 nights a week and I’ll be 72 shortly. No money, just fun. For me anyway.

Well, I was holding off on which candidates to support next year, pending Taylor Swift’s endorsements. /s

It never occurs to these idiots that many (most) folks want to listen to music or view films to escape the nonsense they deal with every day...

“Today’s C&W folks aren’t the same as yesterday’s C&W fans.”

Nope. Some “C&W” sounds like rap now.

Swift is slowly sinking into oblivion.

3 to 5 years from now they'll say.. "what ever happened to Taylor Swift?"

See Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Britney Spears, etc.

If Taylor had stayed country like she began, she may not have gotten mega-sales, but her career would still be pretty much level, as opposed to falling off the cliff.

Around that same time I was finishing up with a band that featured a female vocalist. Man she could belt out the blues!

Problem was, she liked to sing what I derisively called Angry Lesbian Love Songs. You know, like Alanis Morissette, Pink, Michelle Branch, No Doubt, Tracey Bonhan.

It wasn’t long before I was feeling (and behaving) like the drummer in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DVbt5W-DNc

Increasingly, I couldn’t identify with what we were doing and my response was to cut up. They finally fired me - which ultimately killed the band because I was the “enforcer” - the guy who made sure that we got paid.

I didn’t start playing until I was 44 (1998). The money had already gone out of it for most people. I’ve said for a couple of decades now that being in a band today is like being on a softball team in the late 20th century. Except it pays enough to keep you in bats and gloves...

Also, I used to play a lot of Blues jams in the Seattle area. It really got me to hate guitar solos - and the blues in general. I tried to go to a “rock jam” at Stevies in Louisville once. They had blues jams on tuesdays and Rock jams on a different night. So one night I went to the rock jam. They warmed up the crowd with - blues. And then when I got up and asked them to play “house of the rising sun”, it’s like they never heard the song. It was a train wreck, with me on vocals and bass.

Blues is too easy, that’s why there can be jams at all. And as long as you have a good drummer, the songs can end somewhat decently.

So your songs are going to tell Democrats to stop talking about white men the way they do? :)

😹👍🏼🎸. Mostly blues but on occasion I get to play with some funky soul brothers and even get tossed in to a little heavy metal with some folks I know.

Fans don’t want politics from their entertainment sources either.

Hope she’s invested well.

When I transferred to a college with a nationally known music school, I had to audition for the Jazz Lab Bands. The people conducting the audition jokingly said, F# Blues.

I said okay, here we go. When you play a Bb implement (tenor saxophone) in a guitar based environment, you're playing in F# and B all night. So no problem.

So why are you a Democrat, girlie? They call us racists and do actual physical violence if we were a Maga hat. Come over to the right side, nitwit.

HA! Reminds me of a “Blues type” jam I went to one time that was run by a guy playing a mandolin.

EVERYTHING was in the key of G. :D
