Senate GOP vows to quickly quash any impeachment charges

GOP senators say that if the House passes articles of impeachment against President Trump they will quickly quash them in the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has broad authority to set the parameters of a trial.

While McConnell is required to act on articles of impeachment, which require 67 votes or a two-thirds majority to convict the president, he and his Republican colleagues have the power to set the rules and ensure the briefest of trials.

"I think it would be disposed of very quickly," said Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

Another idea - use subpoena power of a trial to force ‘certain people’ to testify publicly under oath to questioning from Giuliani and Sekulow.

Let the obsessive/compulsive nutjobs keep talking about impeachment. They sound sillier by the day.

From the article:

National polls show that fewer than 40 percent of Americans support impeachment proceedings against Trump, while the majority oppose them.

- Did Mitch and Lindsey grow a pair? -

Perhaps their good example will inspire Trump’s base to do the same.

The most the GOP has done is speak loudly and carry a tiny stick. Mostly, they don’t speak.

Yes, it actually does. It takes 67 votes. Eighteen Republicans would have to side with the Dirty Dems. Not gonna happen...

I think what has happened is that both Mitch & Lindsey have come to the conclusion that

(1) Trump is much more conservative than initially thought going by his history of donating to democrats (basically protecting his business interests in NY) and

(2) Trump has demonstrated staying power by attracting tens of thousands of wildly enthusiastic crowds to his rallies numbering well over 100 now. No one in modern era has shown that kind of loyal followers with that kind of energy.

So now most all republicans are afraid of Trump due to his crazy high approval among republican voters. The real anti Trumpers (like Corker & Flake) have already absconded and some other wise guys like Sasse are cooling their jets.

It will be close. There are about 15 rinos willing to pull the trigger as soon as there is a vote.

Perhaps a few of them realize that if they impeach our President we’re not just going to sit around and say thank you.

“Trump’s base” has no problem...We are all 100% behind him...It’s the RINO “professional politicians” that have the problem...

Trump’s base are his voters and real people who go to his rallies by the thousands....

What they are all afraid of is being asked in the debate what actual crime did Trump commit which caused you to vote for impeachment. No one wants to answer that question.
