Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) had a dinner meeting with Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif, Politico Playbook reported Thursday morning—a move even the left-leaning media outlet called “unusual.”
Feinstein’s staff told Politico the meeting, which took place a few weeks ago, was “in consultation with the State Department” but it was not at State’s request that she go.
"The office was in touch with State in advance of the meeting to let them know it was happening and to get an update on U.S.-Iran activity," the California Democrat’s office said.

I don't know if he can do it, by an E.O. stating no legislator can meet with foriegn leadership without Presidential permission or a Presidential emmisarry present might be in order.
President Trump will survive all of this and do a second term, but too many precedents are being established that will kill the U.S.A.
She is probably trying to replace her driver for the last 20 years who was a Chinese spy.
Feinstein’s got her mouth, and her ability to divulge classified material to which she is privy.

At least those that aren’t busy spying on him and his staff and turning over what they discover to the Democrat Party.
Not that I think Feinstein would act in the interest of the United States, but presidents have been known to use non state department people to deliver messages. It has to be done carefully. You could have dinner with a foreign politician and be legal so long as you don’t profess to represent the government. Frankly though, this was a bad idea on her part. There is no way anything she discussed would help the United States. If it was recorded she could be accused of treason.
For sure, her Chinese driver was recording the meeting.
