President Trump on Thursday blasted Rex Tillerson after The Washington Post reported that the former secretary of State told lawmakers that Russian President Vladimir Putin was better prepared than Trump for a meeting in 2017.
"Rex Tillerson, a man who is 'dumb as a rock' and totally ill prepared and ill equipped to be Secretary of State, made up a story (he got fired) that I was out-prepared by Vladimir Putin at a meeting in Hamburg, Germany," Trump tweeted.
"I don't think Putin would agree. Look how the U.S. is doing!"

Tillerson told the panel that Putin out-prepared Trump during the meeting in Hamburg, and said he believed there was more the U.S. needed to do to confront Russia.

I think Mr. Trump was very unwise in his selection of cabinet and staff. When he came to DC, he did not dance with “them that brung him” except for Jeff Sessions who served him quite ill. And he certainly should have been much more aggressive done more about voter fraud in 2018. But he does realize now the treachery he has to deal with, and I hope to see good things from AG Barr.

The pickings were fairly thin, a lot of good people didn’t want to put up with the harassment they’d get if they took a job in the Administration, knowing arrows would come from both Republicans and Democrats.

It’s obvious that Tillerson, like Mattis, only took a cabinet post to undermine the MAGA agenda from within.
First, when Trump won the presidency, the establishment was mostly against him from the start and wanted him to fal. So Trump went outside the establishment for a lot of his Cabinet. To Trump's credit, he did eventually fire Tillerson and now we have a great SoS in Mike Pompeo.
Trump deserves to have a learning curve - especially as he got very little help and a lot of hostility from those who should have been helping him. I think Trump is doing a phenomenal job under the circumstances.
Trump’s main problem seems to be subordinates who arrogantly think they should set policy rather than implement President Trump’s directives. Let them run for POTUS if they want to be POTUS.
