TUCSON, Ariz., May 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Green New Deal proponent Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) now reportedly says that her Apocalypse Now prediction—that the world will end in 12 years—was a joke, taken seriously only by people with "the intelligence of a sea sponge." And President Donald Trump has called the Green New Deal a hoax.
The proposal has not been withdrawn, and is endorsed by leading Democrat Presidential candidates. Schoolchildren are still being terrified about climate change destroying their future. "The Green New Deal is hardly new, and proponents are deadly serious," states its Physicians for Civil Defense president Jane Orient, M.D.
In large part, the proposal was apparently lifted from a 2009 document written for the UN Environment Programme, Rethinking the Economic Recovery: A Global Green New Deal by Edward Barbier. In the Jan 3 issue of the prestigious British journal Nature, Barbier calls it "the first time a major western economy has proposed a comprehensive 10-year plan for a green transition."

It was not a joke—she’s lying. I’ve seen two videos of her saying the world will end in 12 years. Her attitude was clearly not sarcastic or joking.

It’s a joke to think a much lower standard of living will ever be accepted by people.
It’s crazy how global warming has become such a huge liberal cause. All Democrats are pushing global warming. To them, there is no debate, no room for debate.
It really gets me, that we have done so much to clean up the environment in recent decades, yet to the Enviro extremist none of that matters.
And what exactly are we supposed to believe? Now ocasio Cortez is saying she was joking about us dying in 12 years.
It’s enough to make one think that these Democrats and these Enviro Nazis, are simply nuts. It makes you think that they are twisted in the head, as they seek totalitarian control over our lives.
And it still would not make any difference.

Yep. It’s a classic case of groupthink, with a little bit of CYA thrown in. It really would make a good psychological study.

The US is the only industrialized country to reduce its Carbon emissions each of the past 5 years. If the climate fanatics were really serious, they would be going after the rest of the world, which is not reducing its CO2 output.
If the US disappeared tomorrow, 86% of the human-generated CO2 in the world would still be happening. That’s why this is a sham - an attempt to level our economy and shake us down for $trillions.
Why would a care about that? The whole thing is a hoax.
The Green Deal will be used as a pretext for mass genocide of the elderly, socially undesirables, handicapped, sick and retarded. Democrats will create the “New Aryan Race” through this. I predict the population will be reduced by 70%. Other nations will also follow. This is the reality. Democrats want to eradicate those they don’t want. Hence abortion and euthanasia
