Trump says those who ‘spied’ on his campaign should be convicted of treason

President Trump said court-ordered FBI surveillance of his 2016 presidential campaign was treason and those connected to it should serve long prison sentences.

“A really bad situation,” Trump tweeted Friday. “TREASON means long jail sentences, and this was TREASON!”

FBI Director Chris Wray said earlier this month he did not consider the surveillance to be “spying” and he had no evidence the bureau illegally surveilled Trump’s campaign during its investigation into potential collusion between the campaign and Russia.

His comments to the Senate Appropriations subcommittee were a split from Attorney General William Barr, who has described the surveillance as “spying.” Barr did not say whether the FBI’s monitoring of the campaign was improper, but Trump has seized on those comments to bolster his claims.

In 2016, the FBI obtained a surveillance warrant to monitor the contacts of former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

The attorney general is investigating whether the FBI abused its power to open a counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign. Special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation did not conclude there was a criminal conspiracy between the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russians during the campaign.

The New York Times reported earlier this month the FBI sent an undercover female government investigator to meet with former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopolous, who was told by a Maltese professor during the campaign that Russia had dirt Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Papadopoulos wrote in his book, Deep State Target, that the woman, who said she was a research assistant, asked him whether the Trump campaign was working with Russia.

Treason means hanging or death by firing squad.

I read that technically, “treason” can only be prosecuted when we are in a war, but I’m not certain this is correct.

Spying on President Trump is just the tip of the criminal iceberg.

People keep thinking the Democrats were spying so they could find something to blackmail President Trump with.

I’m sure that was part of it, but what if there was another reason?

What if they were trying to find out if he knew about the criminal actions of the Democrats?

That's funny because his boss, AG considers it to be spying. We should find out what the Supreme Court says on the subject.

What if the money and orders for the Democrats was going through George Soros, but was actually coming from another nation?

A nation hostile to The United States?

What if that hostile nation had been paying and commanding the Democrat’s actions for quite some time?

Say, like telling Obama and Hillary and others what to do?

What if they were paying Obama and Hillary and other Democrats to take actions that were harmful to The United States?

Think Rosenbergs. No war.

To spy: definition - to observe secretively or furtively with hostile intent.

Well, when all else fails, let's see what the Constitution has to say, since the Constitution is the FINAL WORD and the supreme the Law of the Land (U.S. Const., Art VI, Sec. 2) against the feds.

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. Id., Art II, Sec. 4.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason...Id., Art III, Sec. 3.

Over the last twelve years, the most obvious commission of treason was Obama's "Iran Deal". That was patently "giving and and comfort to" the enemies of the United States. He should be arrested, charged, and tried for treason against the Untied States.

Wherever Leftist spying in Trump's campaign can be tied to such aid and comfort, they should be held for treason. Otherwise, they should be held for other types of malfeasance.

Nothing like this has ever happened in American politics.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, we haven’t had an illegitimate usurper who turned the entire government against the citizens before.
That usurpation happened with the support of BOTH parties.
Treason's a pretty strong word. But the people responsible...the instigators and main players...should surely do some serious prison time.
