Trump’s prized Doral resort is in steep decline, according to company documents

Late last year, in a Miami conference room, a consultant for President Trump’s company said business at his prized 643-room Doral resort was in sharp decline.

At Doral, which Trump has listed in federal disclosures as his biggest moneymaker hotel, room rates, banquets, golf and overall revenue were all down since 2015. In two years, the resort’s net operating income — a key figure, representing the amount left over after expenses are paid — had fallen by 69 percent. Even in a vigorous economy, the property was missing the Trump Organization’s internal business targets; for instance, the club expected to take in $85 million in revenue in 2017 but took in just $75 million.

“They are severely underperforming” other resorts in the area, tax consultant Jessica Vachiratevanurak told a Miami-Dade County official in a bid to lower the property’s tax bill. The reason, she said: “There is some negative connotation that is associated with the brand.”

So if you are appearing before a local tax commission and your goal is to reduce your tax bill then of course you are going to paint the bleakest picture possible. But the Post makes it sound like the Doral is losing money and Trump's business is on the verge of bankruptcy.

When the PGA pulled out of the doral location and moved the tournament to Mexico I vowed to never attend a PGA event ever again. They can virtue signal to lacucoracha land for all I care.

They seemed to be doing pretty well before then. But again, this is a presentation to the local government for the purpose of lowering property taxes. You don't go into a meeting like that talking about how your profits have never been higher and business has never been better.

Maybe part of the problem is that he isn’t running his businesses anymore. Just maybe if he wasn’t President and running the Trump Empire there might be a different result.

Help me if I am wrong, but didn’t the PGA cancel a very lucrative Golf Tournament at Doral a couple of years ago? If, my memory serves me, when that happened, the future of Doral was downgraded and in jeopardy. I suspect it will be part of a Real Estate Loss/Depreciation claim in future tax filings and eventually sold.

Doesn’t take much for make up for that. The business is so competitive that just organizations that support Trump can make up the diference. Religious organizations, business groups, et al

Get out there and book the Doral and other properties

They moved it. Cadillac cancelled their sponsorship because it was at the Doral so it got moved. To Mexico, I believe.

And the article identifies that as part of the reason for the Doral's decline.

I knew that somewhere in the article, there was a real story here.

"Washington Post via MSN".

They always lie and/or twist the truth in regard to our President. If he had a slight case of athletes foot it would be front page, above the fold. And their reporters would find a doctor blathering about amputation.
