What are the odds that the Durham investigation is for real and will bring bad actors to justice?

As the article points out, Durham has been on the case months before Barr was appointed. The first time his name came up was during the Jim Baker testimony indicating that he was under investigation by Durham.

Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh provided a fascinating insight into the level of distrust the conservative base has in the ability of our institutions and their leaders to right themselves.

No, I don't believe anyone is going to prison. It does not matter whether or not there was criminal activity.

Spying on political opponents and private citizens is only a crime if done by Republicans. It’s in the Constitution.

In fact spying by Democrats on Republicans is a right and never scandal worthy of news reporting. Interfering with spying by Democrats is obstruction of justice. Calling it spying is forbidden. Democrats need not a reason to spy on Republicans.

Democrats can collude with Russian operatives and leak campaign opo-research to their friends in the press. Democrats can accuse Republicans of Russian collusion but Republicans cannot accuse Democrats of the same.

It is only possible that the Trump Campaign colluded with the Russian government to steal the election from Hillary Clinton.

It is impossible to even fathom that the Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign and then to cover their tracks made up a Russian conspiracy hoax.

I only watch and listen to mainstream media. All other news outlets are racist.

This does not sound like a prosecutor who can be persuaded to lay off getting to the truth in order to protect the reputations of important people and institutions.

They said the same about New York Ex-US Attorney Preet Bharara until he came down with TDS.

Even a sober-minded man of integrity like William Barr might be persuaded that the harm to public trust in our system would be too profound and that our allies and foes overseas might see us as so weakened that they would take actions inimical to our interests.

The conundrum they face is that that might be the result if they DON’T find people accountable.

“Even a sober-minded man of integrity like William Barr might be persuaded that the harm to public trust in our system would be too profound...”

So just keep lying to maintain the status quo? Nope. Not this time. Break it open and let the chips fall where they may. If the big players in this, and we KNOW who they are, skate, then all bets are off, the rule of law is finished, and they get what’s coming to them at the hands of the deplorables. If it were me, I would choose a safe little cell in GITMO over a mob of angry deplorables.

FTA: "Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh provided a fascinating insight into the level of distrust the conservative base has in the ability of our institutions and their leaders to right themselves."

The level of distrust is high at FreeRepublic.com...rightly so.

Note:

Mueller investigation is over.

POTUS Trump's verbiage has changed...witch hunt, hoax, etc. is now coup, treason, etc.

Barr has used the term "spying".

An actual prosecutor has been assigned.

Said prosecutor has excellent history of prosecuting high level government corruption.

My personal level of distrust is high, however, I am hopeful...Waiting for the first indictment.

Two things here. 1) Is the investigation real. I would say 50-50.
2) If the investigation is real, then odds to bring bad actors to justice. Again 50-50. Therefore about a 25% chance for justice.

If justice is not planned, then Trump will have full immunity to use the entire intelligence community and co-opt the media (*cough* - yeah right*) to investigate, entrap, and attempt a coup on his successor.

The mediots are telling us how great he is.....just like they did with Comey, Lynched and Mueller. I’ll wait for results before I’m impressed.

He should copy the Mueller strategy; indict at least one of the main players (Comey or Brennan), and work from there.

Until there are indictments, and jail sentences, this won't unravel. They all think they can wait it out by not talking. That's the door that needs to be broken down. And knowing how these guys are all narcissistic political creatures, once one falls, they will squeal like the rats they are.

Odds for conviction 90:1 against

Only one radical democrat woman juror is required to prevent conviction

I fear there is no possible justice through the courts

I would argue to go for the minions. The people who actually prepare the incriminating documents know everything. Screw them to the wall and see what they confess to.

Once the evidence is in hand in tractor truck loads, go after the really bad instigators.

However i fear there will be no justice because there is not an untainted or living jury to be found. our justice system is inadequate for the job

We're all a little older now with more "vision" and impetus to accomplish true justice before we die.

Someone might just rediscover their life, fortune and sacred honor.

The house is paid off, the kids are grown and successful, Mama's taken care of .... the cares of the world are no longer relevent.

It might take a pound of flesh from a low-level accomplice, but the major players won’t be touched. Our “legal” system protects them.

Durham is not the only honest US Attorney working these cases. I’d bet there are several others; we just don’t know their names, yet.

Barr knows the only way to restore the reputations of the DoJ, FBI, CIA, etc, is to prosecute the the criminals who were/are controlling them.

Barr has no loyalty to any of them. Even his longtime friend, Bob Mueller will not be protected. That could be one reason Durham was brought in. Barr can then tell his wife, who is a very good friend of Mueller’s wife, that he is not the one deciding the fate Mueller.

Most of them will take plea deals in exchange for 10+ years in a low security prison because they might otherwise go to a real prison where their live would be in real danger.
