A few shoes are made in Vietnam or Indonesia, but not many. America should not be dependent on one country for 80% of its shoe supply.
This is the footwear industry propaganda falsely assuming footwear producers will stay in China and the poor chillun’ will go shoeless because of the tariff costs. The whole point is to get them out of China to other low cost producing nations like Maylasia or Mexico and screw China. Parents can afford to pay a few pennies more over the next 2 years while they relocate.
Sneakers.

Americans need to stop spending a month’s pay on sneakers.
I don’t. Just can’t afford it. Sad thing is even so called QUALITY brands (and not just of shoes) are still made in China. Even New Balance doesn’t make ALL its shoes outside of China.
Walmart has a policy whereby you can return your crappy falling apart shoe and get a new one. Done that a few times with the kids’ shoes.

What a shame-I don’t wear sneakers, but I took a quick look at my wear-to-work Timberland work boots to make sure they aren’t made in China-and they are made right here in the US-good-those are great work boots and I’d hate to quit buying/wearing them...
So make the damn sneakers in the US instead of China-they are already way overpriced, so let’s at least keep the money at home...

So, a $4 shoe wholesale from China that sells for $40 retail is going to go to $5 wholesale?? I doubt the show will go to $50 dollars.

Back in the fifties and sixties I wore cheap sneakers made in the United States made by Converse. They still make sneakers but from China. Sneakers were cheap in the past. They are no longer so. You are paying for a mystic associated with sport heros. It is stupid to pay 200 dollars for something that takes just a few dollars to manufacture.
