I must be lucky to live in a fairly sane region.
I’ve never seen a security guard in a Walmart, much less a Walgreens.
The closest to that that I have seen is a barely ambulatory “Walmart Greeter” who also occasionally checks receipts against cart contents on the way out during the height of tourist season.
Or even in a bank... Although I’d bet that that some of the tellers and the managers ‘carry’, or at least have one handy under the counter / desk.
Must be a nice area if there is a guard in Walgreens...and they are armed.

Interesting you would mention that. I have noticed the Walmart greeter does, in fact, check the receipts of some shoppers as they leave. I have never had mine checked, though. Aren't they risking a discrimination suit if they "profile" shoppers to check? Seems pretty risky to me.

That is the way that they work. Outrageous lies catch your attention while the concealment of truth, like this, goes unnoticed. This was a very deliberate choice of words by the reporter/editor.
I pray for the security guard. Because of these two stupid youths, he will be asking himself for the rest of his life if there was anything else he could have done. (Even though all logic says there wasn’t).
I dunno. If they are checking at all at mine, I always get checked and the only profile I’d fit is white senior citizen straight conservative male.
I never noticed any profiling going on.
