Mitch McConnell Reiterates Edict: ‘Case Closed’ on Russia, Does Not Defend Burr’s Rogue Subpoena
Breitbart ^ | 9 May 2019Washington, D.C. | MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 05/09/2019 11:31:44 PM PDT by conservative98

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday evening reiterated his edict that the case is closed when it comes to Russia, choosing not to publicly back a rogue subpoena from Senate Intelligence Committee chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) when offered the opportunity by Fox News’s Sean Hannity.

While McConnell was clear in restating his view that the case is closed, contradicting Burr’s rogue subpoena of President Donald Trump’s eldest son Donald Trump, Jr., he also did not criticize Burr.

Hannity asked McConnell: “What is Senator Burr doing? Did he not hear your message?”

In response, McConnell replied:

Well, I think the good news is that Chairman Burr has already indicated that the committee will find no collusion, because that will be consistent with the Mueller investigation. I think this is going to have a happy ending. I understand the president’s frustration here, but I think this is just a blip. I think the case is closed. I think the controversy has been concluded. I don’t think the House thinks that, and I think they’re going to continue to try to stir this up, but enough already. I mean, we found out from the Mueller report that the Russians were deeply involved in it, there were something like 18 to 20 indictments of Russian companies and Russian individuals who were trying to get into the campaign and to mess with it. I think it’s over and I think it’s time to let it go and move on and deal with the people’s business.

Hannity followed up, asking: “Specifically, is that your message to Senator Burr?”

He didn’t go far enough and Hannity let him off the hook.

I understand the president’s frustration here, but I think this is just a blip.

I am beginning to think that the President is not frustrated here...that this is a strategy being implemented by the President, McConnell, and others to keep the Democrats chasing their tails instead of developing an agenda for 2020.

Trump is defining the Democratic agenda for them. It's going to be an agenda that's as organized and unified as that ball of string your cat just finished playing with.

The Democrats are making fools of themselves. And Trump is baiting them into it.

“Case closed”????

The was NEVER probable cause to open this phony “case”.

Not even reasonable suspicion to waste anyone’s time on it.

It’s all a deflection from the ACTUAL collusion by Hillary and the DemocRATS.

Corruption from stem to stern in D.C.

Well Burr is my senator so I took the opportunity to criticize him.
His support for this Russia nonsense has been appalling.
So I wrote him a short letter asking him to quit the nonsense: its OVER.

If he wants to subpoena something, make CA explain how so many republicans lost in 2018 due to mysterious suddenly found ballots. Investigate the dumblecrats and Ukraine.
But no, he and Warner of VA are trying to keep beating the rotting corpse of collusion.

____________

Mitch, it would have been a lot better if you came out aggressively AGAINST Burr rather than merely "not defending" Burr.

But it is D.C. ...... the slime system of this nation.

Burr’s antics are an example of the lengths that NeverTrumpers will go to set the stage for a primary challenge to Trump. I have been donating to Trump’s campaign but refuse to donate to the RNC or the Republican Senate fund. Screw them!

Aside from selling out the U.S. down the Socialist path, *NEITHER* party has anything going for it, agenda wise, come 2020.

And, if your theory is correct, pissing away more of the Treasury via these wild-goose chases, instead of cutting ‘em off @ the knees, is damning more so.

The (R)N(C) hasn’t done a damn thing worth keeping ‘em in office (”small govt” my @ss).
