‘Bond King’ Jeffrey Gundlach says the national debt is ‘totally out of control’
CNBC ^ | 7 MAY 19 | Kate Rooney@Kr00ney

U.S. debt has climbed to an alarming level, according to DoubleLine Capital CEO Jeffrey Gundlach.

“People are starting to realize that the deficit and debt are totally out of control,” Gundlach said on CNBC’s “Halftime Report” Tuesday.

Guldach said the “main reason” the yield curve between 3-year Treasury bonds and 5-year bonds is steepening is a ballooning deficit.

Gundlach — sometimes known as the “bond king” — runs the $50 billion DoubleLine Total Return Bond Fund. Its five-year performance is one of the best in its category, but lagged most of its peers in 2019 with a gain of just 2%, according to Morningstar rankings.

Ok...what are we willing to do about it? What can be done? I'm for cutting ALL forms of welfare and entitlement to ZERO, except for troops and veterans. Let the churches pick up the slack.

ALso get rid of the DoEducation, EPA, ATF, and other useless branches of govt.

For me, this is the wild card for the 2020 election. I really like what trump is doing, but his hands were tied regarding the national debt. The only solution is massive austerity, and that will never play. It is simply not an option. We are in for the ride to the rocks below no matter who is president. And if it hits the fan in 2020, as the small scale example did in 2008, it will be politically very bad for trump.

This situation was beautifully portrayed and explained in a hilarious video in 2013, but it’s already MUCH worse than it was back then. The writing is on the wall, which is one of the reasons I moved from Seattle to rural KY in 2011.

The video (and think of the child in the video as Gen X:

It’s not my debt. Let those who incurred it, worry about it.

Entitlements. You can’t live with ‘em. You can’t kill ‘em.

Funny how “bond kings” tend to keep their traps shut whenever a Democrat is in the White House.

I agree that the debt is the most pressing issue facing us. Unfortunately, neither side shows any intention of dealing with it or even slowing the rate that the yearly deficit is increasing. No, they are talking about spending another two trillion we don’t have on the “infrastructure”

I smell the Uniparty setting up to usher a Ross Perot on to the national election stage to gouge enough votes from Trump to throw the election to the DemoCommie.

Social Security payments are entitlements.

You want to cut that to zero? Want to cease monthly payments?

Good luck with that.

End Section 8 housing vouchers which are a boondoggle for rental property owners who just love to rent to these foreign dirt bags and who are then guaranteed a monthly rental check courtesy of the U.S taxpayers.

End student loans to dreamers and illegals. End the CHIP food program. End the IRS Earned Income Tax Credit to illegals. End free medical and obstetric care to all the illegal women birthing phony U.S. citizens at an exploding rate.

End federally guaranteed mortgage loans to illegals having only an ITIN number. Lenders don't care who they write on these loans they know they will get paid off by the U.S. taxpayer.

Finally halt all billion dollar overseas giveaway programs to countries who are giving us the finger while exporting their underclasses to the U.S (Mexico) so the U.S. taxpayer has to foot the damned welfare bill for them. Finally---STOP FIGHTING EVERYONE ELSE'S CIVIL WARS!

Bring home our troops from these piss holes and put U.S. troops on the southern border where they belong. This is not hard people.

Well, those who.incurred the debt, are the present and past members of Congress and presidents, our elected representatives. Without political will to deal with this, I expect it just won’t get dealt with.

Just do what FDR said....make it temporary and we should adjust age UP to say, 75, which would be in line with 1930s life expectancy.

We are borrowing money to pay them not to riot.

When, not if but when, hyperinflation hits, and it will happen very quickly, those payments not to riot will be worthless, and they will riot and demand the government to fix it....

The only power government has is to use force. Rights to property, then speech, guns and any sort of autonomy in your life,,,will be gone. The constitution will be gone fix it.

Welcome to the USSR comrade.
