Just think, if they let the 5 listed worst offenders go, they probably wouldn’t have to lay off so many and their ratings would probably double.

(Of course they probably have to increase by an order of magnitude to venture into competition.)

As Obama would say, it is a good thing, they have been freed up to seek new opportunities.

CNN is trying to counteract the Trump booming economy by losing 300 jobs. Telling their staff "See, Trump lies and the jobless rate is actually going up! These jobs aren't coming back, Obama said so!"

Yeah, I’d get tired, too, especially when it comes time for the cable networks to renegotiate their contracts. Ratings do matter, especially at contract renewal time. If they’re raking in a constant stream of cash, why are they letting 300 workers go? Your position only holds water for a period equal to the contact life, and that’s starting to run out on CNN and then the ratings come home to roost.

When CNN first went operational, Ted Turner boasted that it would be providing nonstop 24 hour live news coverage from then on until Armageddon.

He meant that literally.

There is a video clip in CNN's database and it's labeled "Hold until end of the world is confirmed." At which point the video is to be broadcast just before CNN and the rest of humanity gets wiped out.

Here is the video, depicting a military band in front of Ted Turner's old mansion, as they play "Nearer, My God, To Thee".

Maybe they should get ready to roll it anyway.
