The reason no one sees it as a priority.....
We send them enough money
They waste so much money
Obama’s stimulus
I could go on.

I imagine Trump saying the following some time next year:

You know, I really wanted to fix our infrastructure. But when I told the Democrats that we’d use the savings from not giving away money to other countries and reforming social services to spend less there they started getting mad. Then when I told them the first order of infrastructure was our Southern Border Wall all hell broke loose.

But I’m doing it anyway.

I agree with you.

In my opinion, this will fester until something happens where a lot of people die, then someone will capitalize on it politically, and we will begin to address the issue.

This isn’t something that has to be done all in one year or even five. A good ten year plan could bring things back with a low per year cost to it.

At ten years $2 trillion works out to $200 billion a year. It’s still not cheap, but it’s a little more chewable at that rate.

The 2020 Federal budget proposed by President Trump listed more than $4.7 trillion in spending. $200 billion per year is a pittance compared to the other things we spend money on.

This is why the infrastructure bill won’t get passed. As a nation we have decided that paying for retirees here in the U.S. and building infrastructure in Third World sh!t-holes are higher priorities than keeping our infrastructure in a state of good repair.

For my lifetime, I could not opt out of Social Security. Would have loved for the government to take my money and put it someplace safe where it could grow. They couldn’t be bothered.

Now I’m stuck with the plan that forced me into. Hey, it is what it is.

What frosts me is the half trillion dollars we pay to welfare deadbeats each year. Let that sink in.

Bush handed off an economy so screwed up we had to toss literally trillions at it to avoid total collapse.

Wasn’t totally his fault, but he had eight years to take action. He had a Republican majority for part of it. (I believe he did)

Well, here we are with a debt about $5 trillion higher than it should have been.

It’s just depressing to address what these people have done with our trust.
