I can’t afford to pay $10,000 a year more. I think I’ll run for Congress. I’m not as dumb as some of them, and I’d like to end up a millionaire, too. Besides, they get better health insurance.
Knew it was monthly as we also have a deduction. Key point is free is never free from anything the government provides. They only spend other peoples money and produce in most cases poor products while being hopelessly in debt
It is also wrong. Single payer eliminates private HC insurance premiums which will save the average family almost $1,000/mo. Now of course this will probably be sucked up as new payroll taxes BUT THE RIGHT WING ECONOMISTS NEVER talk straight about this subject and do us all a disservice.
I don’t see “single payer” costing more ‘in toto’ than what we are as a nation are paying now, it is more a question of quality not cost.
Medicare for All would add somewhere between $32.6 trillion and $38.8 trillion in new federal budget costs over the first 10 years,
The 12-20k your employer pays will be diverted to bureaucracies where the money will be a tool for power and not for health care. It will go from a ptecisely detailed business to incompetent politicians and hacks who don’t give a fig about accountability. In a bureaucratic system with zero competition costs must rise or coverage must fall. I imagine both taking place.
