Russia has secretly installed nuke missiles in Venezuela, US politician claims

RUSSIA has secretly installed nuclear missiles in Venezuela a US politician has sensationally claimed in a chilling echo of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Republican congressman Mario Diaz-Balart said he believes Vladimir Putin's hidden nukes are now a direct threat to the "national security" of the United States.

He made his astonishing allegations hours after Venezuela was pushed to the brink of civil war when opposition leader Juan Guaido called for rival Nicolas Maduro to be ousted from office.

Diaz-Balart told Fox News if Maduro stays in power it could be "an open door for the Russians and for the Chinese and for others to increase their activity against our national security interest."

Journalist Tucker Carlson then asked: "Are you suggesting they are going to invade?”

“The closest we ever came to nuclear war was because the Russians put missiles, right, nuclear missiles in Cuba,” replied Diaz-Balart.

“Are you saying the Russians will put nuclear missiles in Venezuela?” Carlson asked.

“What I am suggesting is that they are already there,” answered Diaz-Balart, without offering any evidence to back up his claim.

This is a Cuban congressman wanting a US invasion of Venezuela. If you are Russia, and have subs, what do you gain by having a missile base in Venezuela?

Could be. I wouldn’t put it past the Russians. Although the instability of VZ argues means there would have to be a lot of Russians down there with close watch on the nukes.

Why would they bother?

If they wanted to nuke us, they have better and more secure places to do it from.

Oh yeah, the Monroe Doctrine. That was when we demanded European powers stay out of our side of the Atlantic. Nobody remembers the other part of that Monroe doctrine. That is the part where we swore to keep out of Europe and their colonial regions.

That deal died long ago.

It was largely a unilateral declaration, so should we expect other countries to pay it much heed?

I suspect that if our intel knew about the potential flight by Madura to Cuba and the Russian change to that event, we also have more than enough intel to know whether or not Russian nukes are in Venezuela........and if it were so, we would already have eliminated them!

Venezuela to DC is 2330 miles. DC to the closest points inside Russia, 4188. Any missile that you could put in Venezuela to attack the USA could make the trip from right there at home.

Not to mention, they have subs they can park off the coast and hit DC with maybe 3 to 5 minutes of warning.

In the past it was paid some heed because we were strong, AND because it also included us staying out of their European squabbles.

****************
You can track subs, but hidden missiles can be launched from the south, an unexpected direction.

A couple of EMP bursts and we would be helpless.
