“LGBTQ Representation” is a “thing” now in movies?
Sheesh.
Mega-presales from the fan boys and fan girls, not to mention almost 5K screens with XD, 3D, 3DXD, etc, all of which are "premium" prices. I'm guessing the following weeks will find the total take drop significantly.
Went to a 5PM matinee in Ohio yesterday. Walked up to the ticket booth at 4:50 and there were plenty of seats available. Maybe Ohio isn't geek heaven, and it was a weekday. Still, for a mega-blockbuster like this, I'd have expected a nearly full crowd.
And the movie... "meh" is being charitable. It was plodding, predictable and tried too hard to close every story angle out there.
Marvel comics will be relevant. Marvel films will still be profitable, that is definite. And since Marvel seems to us different directors giving us different ideas of films, it is still fresh. They will probably falter at some point, but haven’t yet
